It was never "iba" but it's really more of proper tuning above all else.
The sound characteristics of Focal's old metal dome tweets are known to be "matalas" but that's because of people not taking advantage of the material properties. All materials have specific behaviors and while their ultimate purpose is to recreate beautiful sound, they also behave differently. Each has their own pro's and con's so to speak. For example, should the material (metal) enter its break-up zone, it will really sound harsh (again, due to the material characteristics of metal) versus a soft dome tweet as comparison which has a more pleasing "break-up" personality.
I have the Focal Kevlars. If you're around Banawe or plan to visit it, just hit me with a PM and I'll let you listen to it. Nobody in my book has ever complained about it being harsh and many say the opposite actually.

I'd also love to listen to your flax. If you aren't going, then are you free tomorrow evening? I can meet you anywhere in lower antipolo area. Kahit sandali lang =)

July 6th, 2017 05:49 PM #2453That's interesting. Thanks. I thought all along that sticking those mats was all about mass damping (adding mass to prevent the car panel from vibrating by changing its resonant frequency). Turns out that aluminum layer is there to cancel out the movement of the panels - parang principle ng noise cancellation?

Sure. These are one generation behind being the KRX3 set (2006?-2016) set. Don't worry, they roughly have the same specifications as the old K3P (2001-2005?) set except iba lang yun tweeter. The old K3P uses the older titanium domes while the newer ones has a Kevlar sandwich thrown in it.
If you're attending the SQ Manila, I might be there after dinner. It's been a while since the last Audition Nights was held.

Sorry, not yet a member. Sayang, Brickfire is literally across the street from our subdivision, kaso I am out of town right now. I am probably free next weekend though. Maganda, if we can schedule an audition dun sa place ng installer ko, SimpleSound, in Vermont Park, so you can also listen to more cars than just mine.
