August 9th, 2018 11:05 AM #3441AFAIK sabi ko rin sa SA ko sa 6 month PMS na change oil lang/filter. Nagulat ako linilinis nila brakes ko as I was watching from the lounge. Kakausapin ko sana SA ko when the bill came pero wala siya sa breakdown or naka tago dun sa ibang line items haha. Baka kasama lang talaga sa routine. Civic pala car ko.

Di ba they clean naman talaga the brakes? They spray the rotors with a cleaner then they sand down the disc pad itself?

Have the SA verify if it's required or recommended ... Tell them to show you the memo ...

5,000 km pa lang tinakbo e. I don't think brake cleaning is needed.
It's not a silent recall after all. I think the SA's are just instructed to insert as many extras as possible.
And this is after me telling him to remove all unnecessary extras. Pumayag din naman finally.
Guess these dealers are feeling the pinch of rising costs as well.

August 9th, 2018 11:33 AM #3446The brake cleaning service is lumped into the PMS fee. What you pay for separately are the spray-on cleaners and brake quit squeal. Both of which total around P400.
My Civic also had its brakes cleaned during its 10k PMS when it had only done around 6K kms. There is a bare-bones required PMS package that is part of HCPI's competitive disclosure policy for cost of ownership but the casa can add extras depending on the SA's findings and recommendations for your vehicle. It's a fine art that the SA's master to maximize dealer revenue and customer satisfaction. Example, "palitan mo na rin para sigurado", "baka matagal na sobra kung next PMS pa", "isang trabaho na rin kaya isabay mo na". You get the drift... Whether it makes sense or not depends on your car's condition, your wits and the convincing power of your SA.
Just courteously say no to non-essentials or for those items that are nowhere near their stipulated replacement schedule. You still keep your warranty and avoid cascading expenses at the same time. Examples are additives, flushing fluid, brake squeal, dressing/waxing, partial top ups that cost you the whole container, filters (air, cabin, fuel, transmission) and suspension parts that are not yet due as per maintenance schedule but accelerated for "convenience".

You can do brake cleaning every 12 months and just do it outside casa. It will not cost you 1k for the brake cleaner and labor cost

August 9th, 2018 12:01 PM #3448If you have all-disc brakes, you don't even have to clean them at all if you never go through floods. Just hose them down every once in a while then drive away to dry.
I just let my preferred casa do the optional brake stuff since I typically will have stripped off all non-essentials. Parang support ko na sa kanila. I actually see them doing the routine even if it is not really required in my case. More of pa spray-spray lang, konting punas and then pahid na ng quit-squeal sa rotors.
Ewan ko lang ha but I think the quit-squeal actually made my brakes growl when it's cold during the mornings.

Does anyone else feel like the seats aren't padded enough? They're ok for short drives but on long ones I really feel the lack of cushioning on the backrest.
