greetings to all....
guyz and gals I would need your help and expert advise on this....
My engine was just newly started and been idle or leave it running for a minute or two, when I drove the vehicle for at least 3-5 minutes of driving, there was a humps, of course I need to slow down or stop, namatay ang engine ko.... I started it immediately, nagstart naman kaagad ang engine, pero I didnt like the sound as there was like hammering sound on the engine, some say parang may garalgal sound sa engine.... so I turned off the engine, and waited for a minute or two, then started it, now the unusual peculiar sound was gone....
ano po kaya ngyari sa engine?
does it need some calibration or something?
I got a 2005 Innova J D4D M/T; and is 71k on the Odo
tnx.

January 16th, 2010 09:42 PM #847Hi Dieseldude,
I just bought a 2nd hand Pajero (Japan/Subic), below are the vehicles specifications:
- 1998 model / 5 doors
- 2.5 TDIC
- 4D56 Engine
- Automatic
The problem:
- mahina sya humatak
- hirap sa pataas na road
- malakas sa krudo (about 4-5 km/liter)
Maintenance performed:
- changed ATF fluid
- cleaned ATF filter (El Dorado does not have the model)
- changed Fuel filter (original)
- changed Air filter (original)
My Pajero is not producing black smoke actually it barely produces smoke, and the automatic transmission is shifting fine, overdrive is also working.
As per the previous owner he had it calibrated more than a year ago and replaced the nozzles 6 months back. What do you think is causing the sluggishness and high fuel consumption?
- Blocked fuel supply to the injection pump
- Insufficient turbo boost
- Incorrect engine to injection pump timing
- Injection pump not properly calibrated
Can you give me at least an estimate for the following job scope?
- Recheck injection pump to engine timing.
- Check and or repair turbocharger boost.
- Check and or calibrate injection pump.
- Check and or replace nozzles with original ones.
Sorry, this is not allowed in this forum.
Thank you in advance.You're welcome...

sir to ask-are you referring to the supply pump-fuel pump? I just had it cleaned and changed its filter in Toyota last month - 12/2009
here are some added info of what's happening:
- when I am stucked in traffic engine has tendency to turn off; while a/c is ON; but if a/c is OFF it does sometimes occur, but very rare to happen....
- when I came from speeding up, then slowly slowed down due to traffic, engine turns off (not always though) but I have to step on the clutch and slowly release, put it to N-Neutral then rev up for idling to go up.... since idling drops if I dont do so.... added Q: what is the Normal idling of Innova D4D? is it 800rpm?
* after engine turns off, when I go unto ignition, engine starts immediately, but there are peculiar sound-something like hammering sound in the engine...
how did these things happen on my Innova suddenly as it is well taken cared of
what can I do to bring my vehicle on its Normal running condition?
please help..... thanks....

Yes, the fuel supply pump.

Idle is 700 - 800 rpm.

how did these things happen on my Innova suddenly as it is well taken cared of? Toyota has been having problems with their supply pumps...
what can I do to bring my vehicle on its Normal running condition?
Your vehicle has to be scanned to determine the true problem. And if a faulty supply pump is detected, this can be replaced.
please help..... thanks....
