I do not agree kapag naka diesel "can afford" Adventure? Innova? Crosswind? Montero, MUX, Fortuner, Everest? These car are cheap for its size and engine. Ito usually una binibili ng familyang piilipino. Nagtitipid nga kaya yan binili.

If you want to talk about can afford it should the alphard, previa, oddysey, explorer, fj cruiser, accord, camry, cefiro.

Ito na lang the battle of the hatchback.

I know mabagal but its so quiet.

Natawa ako sa "too cheap and dirty".

What im trying to point out : A poorly maintaned diesel vs poorly maintained gasoline engine eh the latter wins

Do you think the owner of fleets delivery FB body will follow proper engine maintenance? Magtitipid yan, walang pakialam kung itim usok basta umandar. Gulong nga kalbo na gamit pa rin.

I do not like jejomar binay. But i love his anti diesel policy at makati.

Gagoh lang talaga procedure ng ASBU. Itodo bomba ba naman gas pedal. Tapos takot na takot kayo baka masira. Can afford ba? hahahahaahah

Is it true that mahal ang parts and labor ng diesel?
Also, medyo mabaho ang diesel. Pero kung SUV, diesel na.

One of the peso billionaires I know who owns an oil mill among other businesses only uses 2 cars: a 23 year old Patrol and a diesel Innova. Another family of brokers with a net worth of around Php 600M only has 1 shared car, a Crosswind. Although they enjoy the occasional cruise every year or so, in general they are very thrifty. Just because someone "can afford" something doesn't mean you should buy it. There are also a lot of rich people who buy nice cars be it gasoline or diesel. And a lot of people who can barely afford to maintain a nice gas vehicle but do so living the mantra "fake it til you make it". Most of them never do. If you think shiny expensive things are an indicator of what a person "can afford", I recommend you watch the local program On The Money on ANC.

Try not to generalize people. I've been humbled several times by doing so.

    Hmmm....

If same vehicle pero engines lang ang magkaiba, isang diesel & gas, I'll buy it's diesel kung gagamitin ko sa negosyo or for hauling people like vans etc.

by virtue of the way diesel engines work, it is not easy to avoid black smoke when the accelerator pedal is suddenly depressed. what is not acceptable, is black smoke during ordinary driving. it could be as easy (but probably not cheap) as adjusting something, to as expensive as tired-engine syndrome.

i have a diesel innova. no significant issues for over 11 years and 110K km now.
and the fuel efficiency is good. talk about up to 400 km per 1000 peso load, in the city. that's probably double what the avanza can deliver on its 1000 peso gas load.
