A high pass filter or HPF (for short) for the sub is simply the frequency where the subwoofer starts playing. If you have a typical deck, it'll list out your options of 120hz, 80hz, 63hz, etc. (usually in 1/3 octaves mga yan). To simplify it, given a frequency.. let's say 80hz, what it means is that your front speakers will be playing until from 80hz and above and your subwoofer will be playing from 80hz and below. In reality, there's things pa such as the slope of the crossover (6,12,18,24, 36db/slopes) and the accompanying phase shifts it entails.

So which sounds best? Depends on the person. Your best bet is to sit inside the car, play your favorite bassy track, and simply flip through the frequencies until you find which "sounds best" for you. Don't be afraid to use your head units built-in tuning features such as treble, mid, and bass controls... subwoofer knob, etc.

And yes, ipaayos mo ulit yan. May mali sa wiring nila.

    hi guys,

sobra haba to backread, anyway, i'd like to ask for your opinion and recommendations as well.

objective: simple, decent sounding sound system. hindi ko ma describe, basta yun malinis lang. hindi naman ako metikuloso pag dating sa ganito.
    budget : P10-12K
prospect: HU: anything with USB connection para sa ipod. i'm looking at pioneer. i'm open to suggestions.
speakers: not sure about the specs: wattage, size, etc. i'm looking at the pioneer brand. open to suggestions din.
(front) mas ok ba kung separates? just want to change the stock ones.
(rear) replacement to the stock. ayaw ko na sana magpa reroute pa or bubutasan pa yun likod. gusto ko sana yun exact fit langt
    ride: 2002 civic.

would the budget suffice my requirements? o kukulangin pa? kung may unting sobra, please recommend me additional stuff that i can add. thanks!

Head unit - even the most basic head unit nowadays have iPod functionality built-in. So feel free to get the cheapest one.
Speakers - wala naman preferences. But try to get the most sensitive speakers you can find.
(Front) - yes because throwing a tweeter (kahit i-double tape mo lang sa dash) increases stage height.
(Back) - any coaxial that fits. In fact, I recommend not changing it nalang.. you're not a passenger right?

    Hey guys,

Do I still have to chance the head-unit even if my budget is only 10-15k?

I really don't want to lose the steering wheel control functionality.

Not really. Try it first without changing the head unit. Most vehicles come with nice head units nowadays.

    Good morning po.

    I have a question.

Im planning to have my car audio upgraded.

This is what they gave me for a quotation.

    Llightning lab am480
    Precision power seps 52.65c
    Precision power subs 12"
    Precision power coaxial
    Alpine HU with usb/aux
    E46 headunit panel
    Sealed enclosure box
    Audiomax wiring
    Installation and tuning

    All for 24,200

    Ok na po ba yan?

I just want quality sounds naman po. Nde yung talagang pang car show and competition.

    Thank you so much.

All DIY source out of parts and install. Granting that I won't be joining any sound competition, nor I want to be heard two blocks away, here's my super budget meal setup:

    Fronts: Targa X652C seps
    Back: Stock Clarion coax
    HU: Generic with USB/Aux/SD/RCA output
    Amp: V12 NV-10-A-480
Sub: 12" Directed Xtreme 400W in a sealed box

Got the amp bnew and the sub+box slightly used for 3.5k. The Targa seps is 1.8k. Install man-hours probably on 8-12, totally worth it. Hardest part was routing the cables, from the battery to the firewall, and under the carpet from the amp to the sub at the back. The Targas aren't wired to the amp yet, have to find longer wires to route from the doors, but the HU handles them pretty well.

    Sorry for the crap pic

I don't think you'll be needing coaxials at the back. Unless you're often a rear-passenger, a thousand saved is still a thousand.
