August 18th, 2011 09:09 AM #272i found a new audio shop near me.. been in the business daw since 2007
12k
lightning lab amp
ryan audio 12" in a computed ported box
wire + install
i originally asked him if kaya ba 12k ads sub na 12 or kicker cvr 12 and lightning audio amp na mono
he said wala na daw sa pinas ung lightning audio, via import pa daw(expensive) or luma na ung unit.. and about sa kicker 12 cvr nmn eh kulang daw budget ko and ung a/d/s sub nmn daw di maganda..
so un nga he recommended sa 12k budget
lightning lab amp + ryan audio 12 in a comp ported box + wire and install.. pwede na ba yan?
nag inquire lng kasi me via txt since nakita ko name nya sa audio club directory..
any comments mga ser?

I have no prior experience with the mentioned components so I can't give any feedback on them.
As for Lightning Lab being closed down, I've heard some local reports of it but I have not and did not bother to verify them. Lightning Lab is the "lower-end" brother of Rockford Fosgate so, quality-wise, they're pretty well-made. The Kicker CompVR 12-incher retails around 6500+PHP SRP I believe. If you find any of them lower than that, be sure to inspect it well. There is known circulation of FAKE Kicker CVRs around the country especially in Raon.
The deal looks pretty fine for me. I actually like Ryan Audio.. they're like Targabang per buck. I also know that Jeff Tan of Araneta Car Accessories loves them too. For what it's worth, I'd just recommend people get a JBL GT5 and put it in a ported box and call it a day and use the excess cash for deadening.
I have heard of Lanzar but I can't seem to recall ANY of their products (in other words, not that well known)
For the booming effect, forget sealed enclosures and take advantage of the port tuning of a ported box. Sealed has more control because on how the box itself helps "rebound" the sound waves and lifts the coil of the sub. But if you're looking for decibels, scrap them.

Pare, you can leave your coaxials at the rear as they're simply rear-fill. I recommend you:
(1) Change your separates at front
The biggest improvement would often come from changing your stock speakers to aftermarket ones.
(2) Deaden the front doors
Do not skimp on deadening. Whenever you change your speakers to aftermarket, deadening the car is a MUST. This alone would improve your midbass response by a huge margin. As people say, we're not surprised to see "ignorant" sound users who flaunt their system only to hear ZZZZZ... ZZZ..... rattles.
(3) Buy a 4-channel amplifier to power it.
For that "busog" effect on the separates. 4-channel for flexibility... use 1 and 2 for the separates and 3 and 4 for the subwoofer upgrade in the future.
Now, it's time to save for a subwoofer.

Just the front doors if on a budget. And depending whether your subwoofer is front-firing or back-firing (It's probably back-firing), you would also need to deaden parts of your trunk and trunk lid. A back-firing subwoofer are subwoofers mounted on the trunk FACING you if you open the trunk. A front-firing subwoofer is an orientation where the subwoofer faces the inside of the car.
OEM deadening normally sells around 500php per sheet. Labor costs varies from free (since magpapagawa ka na lahat, might as well try to throw the labor in) to 500 pesos per sheet (sa mga big-time shops na ito). I expect around 100-200php patong per sheet as a reasonable cost but better to ask tsikotshop here since he's an actual installer.

so ung said shop hu said 12k ung setup na gusto ko..

when i inquired about using a 4channel amp sa subs ko he said pwede nmn 4 channel amp, but insisted na magtanung tanung muna daw me sa iba since di daw me makapag decide tlga if anu gusto ko.. its like he's saying ata na if balak ko palit coax and seps in the future eh get nlng a 4channel amp for them and sa sub eh mono amp lng..
nga pala mga ser ung grill ba for sub woofer mga 1.5k ba yun? 1.5k ung sinabi nya if like ko palagayan..
and ung per sheet sa deadening? ilan sheet ba use sa front doors? or per door? dko kasi lam ganun kalaki un..

Yes, grills would set you back around those prices. Then again, do you need a grill? Some people can make do without them but are more careful so that they don't damage the subwoofer cone.
Deadening the doors depends on WHAT side you want to deaden. Front, back, panels. For most, just deaden the front and back (this is the metal part of the door). Would take up around 2 sheets per door.
For my car, since it's a midsize sedan, I consumed around 4 sheets per door and it's fully deadened.. panel and all. Which is why it's heavy as hell. Heck, it auto-closes basta nakabukas lang yun pinto
