Thank you *Egan101. Heard and read reviews of the HUs you mentioned above, hanep ito. Hanep din sa presyo. Thank you for mentioning the DLS, I might revisit decision on the SR5. Bought some of my gears from Mickeys before but I will let Jonz do the buying this time around since I am planning to tap him for the upgrades. I appreciate your inputs, thanks!

No. What your head unit is doing right now is acting like a transport with a bit of flavor enhancement (the signal passes through the Pioneer's chipset first before it passes through the Mosconi). Given that you do not need additional features a better head unit has (Bluetooth, etc.), I will not recommend you upgrade. Isa lang kilangan mo itanong -- does the HU give a flat signal to the DSP? If yes, that is usually all that matters.

    2. At the moment, I am inclined of replacing my amp with an audison sr5.
If you were to expand your choices towards secondhand goodies, you might get something better in value. Amplifiers is something I recommend purchasing secondhand. In fact, my home audio amplifier hails back to 1995 while my car audio is from 2003.

Thank you *jhnkvn. This is actually the answer I am looking for. Correct, I can do without BT functionality naman and the additional screen size of the 5750bt is no big deal for me rin. Question, when you say flat signal, is this the same as de-equalization? Isn't it a function of the DSP?

Thanks again. Will explore other options - will look as well at secondhand items. With this and the savings coming from the HU, I might be able to get something less the budget I intend to shed.

Jonz of KAC (Jonz80)? You're in good hands when it comes to car audio. He has truly made a name for himself. If you want an affordable 5-channel amp that's packed with features, go with the DLS CA51. My simple 2-way full active setup before was powered by a CA51. As what jhnkvn mentioned, you get more value with some used equipment so look around as you might find a used DLS A7 for half its retail price.

How can I have my car setup by Jonz?

I have been itching to upgrade my system. Currently the components installed are the following:

    HU: Pioneer 1650dvd
    DSP: Mosconi 4 to 6
    Amp: PPI Sedona 580.5
Seps: Focal PS 165v running full active
    Subs: Polk MM1040

At the moment, I am inclined of replacing my amp with an audison sr5. With regards to the HU, I am leaning towards to 5750bt rather than 8750bt. The price difference of 12k for flac playback is too much for me.

Question: Is changing the head unit from 1650dvd to 5750bt a smart choice? In terms of SQ, is it a night and day difference given that I have a dsp? I agree with the garbage in - garbage out statement but would like to know if difference in SQ is noticeable.
I think most were answered by boss idol master jhnkvn. One thing to take note of is the processor capability of the 6to8. I think it is limited to 24/96. If you plan to play something higher than that, it will just hurt the file.

Your gears are good. Although Audison/Focal are a good match, I think it will be best to invest in tuning instead. Jonz does wonders on it. I was able to make my bright sounding system sound warm to my liking with his expertise.

Also, instead of the amp, maybe change the drivers. I am a big fan of the new Flax drivers from Focal. Really spells out a big difference in tonal quality compared to their older and lower drivers.

For me, unless you hear your trunk resonating, then by all means do deadening. For rear doors, if your rear speakers are disconnected, i find more value in deadening the floor and ceiling since those can be the first point of reflection.

I agree sientobente. Jonz tuned my mosconi and voila, he was able to bring the best out of my current gears.

I have heard some focal audison combos and they are good match. I was contemplating on getting the FX as I have auditioned some before but the sound is not to my liking. I find the midbass manipis compared to the one I have now.

Though I know installation and tuning definitely plays part, I am still unable to audition flax that suits my liking hence the thought of upgrading the amp first. With the amp upgrade, I might be able to squeeze the driver's juices a little bit more. Thereafter I might as well upgrade drivers pag nag sawa na ulit.

Thank you all for your inputs.

I think that is the default tuning Jonz does, medyo leaning towards manipis, making it sound really clean. Have a listen to mine, I got a focal/audison combo, tuned to a thicker sound. I also have 2 different settings on my processor. It should show you the "Jonz" tune and the "Sientobente" tune. Hahaha. Big difference, pero iba ang clarity on the Jonz tune, while my own tune is midbass strong and thick - as thick as Binay's face!
