The theory actually works IF your electrical load is mostly electric motors. But if your load is electronics and lighting, it won't make much of a difference.

I tried it a few years back in my first computer rental shop since I had two window type aircons & a small ref aside from the computers. Unfortunately there wasn't much of a change beyond the typical month-to-month variation in my electric bill.

Maybe slightly OT but why is it that outlets back there use 220V while in other countries like here in the US it's 110V (with or without third ground pin on the plugs)? Does either one become more efficient over the other, given the same amount of usage? Also why is it that the third ground pin on plugs over there are usually non existent but in other countries it's standard to have one in most, if not all, electronic devices?

It has to do with the power infrastructure of the country itself. By the way most of the world runs 220V. You can read this.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mains_electricity

it looks like an electronic ballast will save electricity.

i want to try this with a watt hour meter.

Not to mention mas matipid ito sa bumbilya at mas safe (all else being equal).

OUR CLIMATE SUCKS!

Mas matagal po ang life nung bumbilya. Ewan ko kung bakit but it lasts waaaay longer. Plus hindi umiinit yung ballast unlike the ordinary ones.
