October 19th, 2012 01:20 AM #94True, the power consumption of the light and other stuff will still be there. But by moving your cooling cost to night time, you lower the building's KW demand. In most buildings, cooling is the biggest consumer of power. This is specially true with big centralized A/C systems. Take for example a 20,000 sqm mall. This mall may have around 1000 TR of cooling capacity. That will use a lot of power. If you can shift the demand to night time when the mall is not consuming electricity, you esentially cut your KW demand by a huge factor. Another benefit is it maximizes the use of the transformer. Transformers use power even 24/7. There is core loss and Cu loss. So in effect, it is not efficient with no load or very low load. By moving cooling load to night time, your minimizing your system loss.
You can also get by with a smaller transformer and capacitor bank. This only appllies new buildings or buildings that will be buying new transformers or cap banks.
However, a new ice cell chiller will not be cheap. Like all other decisions, the building owners need to conduct feasibility study.
For lights, best if they can switch to LEDs.Last edited by userfriendly; October 19th, 2012 at 01:35 AM.

That Dunham Bush Ice cell is a failure. Kaya pala napakainit sa Trinoma at Serendra. Lalo na sa Trinoma, medyo humid yung init. I even went as far as telling them that their AC is just way too hot (via their FB page).
Now I know what company is responsible for that horrendous HVAC job.

nagtitipid kasi sa kuryente sir, kaya cguro hindi na pinaandar ang compressor at ung ice nalang ginamit sa cooling. pero kulang.
