July 19th, 2013 09:26 PM #192Sir, the reason I ask whether it is more feasible to do primary or secondary metering is because of the highlighted part. Will my opex be high since we will buying the transformer if we proceed with the primary metering? or will my electricity billing be much higher if we proceed with the secondary metering since meralco will provide the transformer and of course this will be charge to us in our monthly billing.
Your initial cash out will be more if you buy transformer, than letting Meralco supply the transformer. Do not that even if Meralco owns the transformer, you may still have to pay them for it. They will compute the amount based on the cost of the transformer and wires needed for the project.
I'm not sure of your monthly billing will be lower with a primary meter. I am in a province not serviced by Meralco. Theoretically, it should be lower. But since Manila Water charges everything back to the consumer, how can we be sure that Meralco does not have the same practice. If you read your bill, there is system loss, missionary electrification and a whole lot of other stuff.
My view is, just get everything from Meralco. This way, you dont have to worry about maintenance. You also wont need to buy the transformer, wires and protective devices. And if the transformer blows or catches fire, Meralco will replace it for you. Also, the transformer losses will be part of the system loss. If you go with a primary meter, you may still be charged for system loss and your primary meter will register your transformer losses.
What's your business and how many KVA transformer do you need?Last edited by userfriendly; July 19th, 2013 at 09:29 PM.

Retz, 1to1.5mw kaya ibigay ni meralco transformer for free (no step down needed) as long as susunod ka sa guidelines ng location ng transformer. Unless otherwise you will be constructing a high rise building with a load more thwn 2mw.again depende sa division of load mo pwedeng hindo ka na kumuha ng another stepdown transformer.Similarly, irelevant na kung ano gusto mo mangyari - depende sa design mo kung primary-secondary or sub or lahat direct metering (another design rule will be applied by meralco).
Imho kung commercial complex at required ka mag genset with 100% back up mag primary-sub meter ka mas matipid sa wiring ay simlple design ng transfer switches mo. Cons kukuha ka ng tao taga reading at taga bill at taga singil.

July 21st, 2013 11:20 AM #194^^^ That is a very good point. Add'l step down transformer will mean add'l investment and costs. Malaki din ang transformer losses niyan.

the answer is both yes and no. have it checked by the supplier and dapat mag - oon lang siya kung may flow ng water which is the typical design nowadays.
yes - depende sa sarap ng pagligo mo at haba ng time na naka-on siya, at full power mas malakas pa siya sa typical room aircon
no - if installed correctly, you pay for what you need ika nga nila.

Thanks for the info sa electrive stove brother. Did also the computations sa heater and dinoble ko na nga ang usage for conservativeness. Nagtataka nga ako bakit ang laki ng nadagdag. Nagdududa tuloy ako baka ginagamit ng katulong namin yung aircon sa room nila (naiwan ko pa kasi di ko pa nalilipat. Hehehe).
