sa questions ni boeing... depende sa need ng company, gaya ngayon kahit walang experience kinukuha nila kasi almost 95% na yata ng oil drilling rigs merong contract so hirap sila kumuha ng mga tao, at madaming nag-retire past few years at hindi naman sila nag-train ng bago.
15 years ago puro trainees ang hire ng company namin sa pinas, sama ako dun 27 yrs old ako nun. so kahit na sa airconditioning ang experience ko e nakuha ako na trainee chief mechanic sa oil rig. yun lang nga first day ko pinagapang ako sa langis at grasa ehehehehe! enjoy naman kahit mahirap ang training. ngayon sa company namin meron ako 2 trainee sa department ko. puro bata pa. yung pinsan ko 34 na sya pero dami nya experience sa diesel engines, makina ng barko ginagawa nila sa wartsila. nag-work din siya nuon sa napocor. afaik wala age limit basta papasa ka sa medical. lalo na kung meron ka experience sa related fields.
for mechanical department - diesel power, turbines, pumps, cranes and lifting equipment, compressors, etc. sa electrical/electronics dept - electronics measurements and calibration, electrical switchgear and DC motors controls, SCR systems, synchronous ac motors controls, plc programming and automation, etc, etc. sa mga malalaking oil rigs meron pang hydraulics engineers saka electronics technicians, dami na kasing equipment dun. meron din subsea department (blow out preventer valves, etc) saka barge dept (marine engineering grads and able seaman) pag sa drilling department naman usually petroleum o kaya mining engineers dun. pero mga old timers na drillers karamihan high school graduate lang (na may utak). experience after all is worth more than education lalo na mostly hands-on ang petroleum drilling industry.
dagdag ko sa sinabi ni nightrock na trabaho ng wireline operator: logging-while-drilling, well logging, well perforation (using explosive charges), well testing and flaring.

March 5th, 2006 11:26 PM #42Yung isang pinoy na Wireline Operator namin dati nalaglag yung isang blasting Canister nya sa truck gagamitin yata sa perforation..napulot ng isang katutubo sa africa ayon pinag laruan kala nya normal tin cans lang... sumabog dedbol.. maraming risk sa oil field.. kaya di mo rin ma sisi ang mga company kung bakit pa ulit ulit kang papa puntahin sa mga safety courses kahit sawang sawa kana...

mga tsongs, pag HUET sa subic na lang kayo mag-training. sa IDESS, norwegian company operation at sbma. dali lang huet training dun. bakasyon ka pa sa subic ng libre! search nyo website nila, IDESS. yun lang insist nyo na sa hotel kayo titira at hindi sa barracks nila kung balak nyo mag-overnight dun. half day lang HUET dun, 1030am tapos na.

I think sa sweldo at sa schedule kung may family ka, wala ng gaganda pa sa oilfield. It's a risky job minsan but most oil companies are spending lots of money sending their employees to attend different trainings to minimize the risk or accidents.
Saka sa work na'to, whether nasa jobsite ka o naka bakasyon, parehong salary paid.At maraming opportunities to travel in different countries all expenses paid by the company. Infact, di ko na mabilang kung ilang passport na ang na avail ko...
