March 6th, 2011 02:25 PM #151[quote=red elgrand;1690214]I just tried 1/4 liter of 2T oil (I used Shell) with 50 liters of diesel -- took a round trip from Manila to Tarlac and then back yesterday and the engine seems quieter. This is my longest trip since I got the van more than a month ago and I think it can really ran fast if you floor the accelerator. Running 120kph at NLEX was a breeze and the pick-up of the engine is quite quick.
One short query for those who had their units for sometime now -- how much is the LTO registration for the 3.2 liter diesel el grand. I am going to register my van next week and LTO Pasig did not want to register it and asked me to go to Diliman for the registration as it was transferred in Cagayan -- is this similar for EL Grand owners in manila
Would appreciaete you replies.

[quote=ajsurla;1693338]I would like to know for those in Pampanga as well, Mine will need to get renewed in August.
Elgrands do run well on the highway, they are one of the strongest turbo diesels you can get there. Way more power than most local vehicles.
And it does not take much to make them noticeably faster, Do some of the simple mods I put on here and you'll have better power and better fuel economy.

Dump pipe assistance, I am out of country but have access to weld away so I am wanting to make up a few dump pipes for when I return. If anyone can take a picture of the back of the turbo (just to give me a ideal on space between the firewall and the stock dump pipe.
The QD32ETI has pretty much a identical set up as a TD27IT engine so they look almost the same.
Stock downpipe is very restrictive on these and cost you a good bit of power. The outlet size is only 2.25" pretty small for a 3.2 liter. A 2.75" to 3" exhaust seems to be the best choice plus you can run more boost safely.
Stock pipe.
This is what you want, a 3" exhaust is the first thing I am getting when I get back.

The Elgrand headlights at least on the 1997-1999 with the headlight on top and fog light on the bottom should work for both left and right hand drive. They are adjustable enough to aim properly.
Elgrands were never produced to be sold in both drive configurations so the headlights are only made for it's original set up. The Philippines is the only place that converts these.
The 1999 and up headlights might fit but I am not sure they will, they have a different design headlight on bottom and fog light on top. But if you have a 3.0 neodiesel that will be your headlight.Last edited by dvldoc; March 12th, 2011 at 03:28 PM.

For example the Elgrand has a 76L fuel tank you only need 8oz of 2T oil for that full 76L.
The amount does not have to be exact it will not harm your engine. for 20L you can use 2 onces of 2T oil.

Hi dvldoc, I have a question. I want to change my air filter to cone-type Simota filter. I already have the 3" MAF adapter fabricated for P700. my question is most 3"tube pipe that goes with the cone filter has only one inlet hose with it. i think that's where you connect the 'oil catch can' right?. what about the smaller hose which is attached before the filter box? where will i connect it and what is it for? please see the pix.

That hose is connected to the Varible nozzle turbocharger control solenoid valve. That little white piece that looks like a filter is the Damper. So yes you need to connected some where on the air flow. The Patrols looks a bit different but does the same thing.
Your MAF adpater looks more than long enough to add a barb to slide the hose on. The rubber coupler you use only needs about 2.5" of space to be secured. You will just need to get a longer hose to change it with.

Fellow Elgrand owners I am seeking some help. Since I am not in the Philippines I cannot look.
My question is how much space is there for a larger oil filter. I am looking at a upgraded version of my current Fleetguard LF4056 filter to one that is longer. The longest of the options is around 8.5" long.
Is there enough clearance for this?
Biggest is Overall Height: 8.31 (211)
Largest OD: 3.68 (94)
Current filter is
Largest OD 93.5 mm (3.681 in)
Overall Height 142.1 mm (5.594 in)
A picture would be worth a 1000 words but if that's not possible just let me know if it is possible.
