Pero kung mag community college (get your Associates degree) ka then transfer ka sa State University (to complete/continue to Bachelors degree), Community and State Colleges are public schools. Malamang $8,000 lang ang utang mo by the time you graduate with Bachelors. Typically, when you finish your bachelors. you start paying them back after 6 months.
Sinubukan gawin ni Ninoy Aquino 'to, tinawag nya namang "Study Now, Pay Later." Or maybe meron pa ding ganitong programa pero for SPECIAL PEOPLE lang.
Or maybe Im wrong.
Ang maganda pa, if you are working for a company who has a tuition assistance benefits, tutulungan ka nila sa ibang tuition fees. The organization that I work for pays 100% of my tuition for up to 2 classes per semester including books. I wont be able to finish as quickly as I could when taking 4 classes at a time. I have two more classes on Feb-June 2005, then Im off to get my Masters. Sa Masters naman, 100% tuition assistance din from my organization. They will pay every unit for my Masters. $1,142/unit and 1 class has 2 units for a total of $2,284, 60 units are required to get the MBA. The only thing that my organization require me is to stay for a year after my MBA. It looks like Im retiring from this organization if their benefit is this great anyway.Last edited by Karding; December 30th, 2004 at 02:56 AM.

Walang support na ibinibigay ang US sa mga immigrants, you have to make it on your own.
Located ako sa Pasadena, which is 10miles from downtown Los Angeles.

Most of the Major US cities ay medyo mahal ang cost of living. Its a given but not all of them are. I've lived to 4 of them. I started in L.A, then Las Vegas, New York City, and finally, Boston. I must say that California, in general, would cost a little bit more because of high state taxes they pay(aside from Federal taxes). Then yung prices ng gas nila is way over the top. I think it is about $0.50 cents more per gallon than dito sa Boston. Everybody drives kasi sa California. There are a lot of areas na hindi covered sa mass transport system. Things would add-up over time kung magpapafill-up ka sa SUV mo na may V8 engine, for example.
Although, I've seen some apartments in Orange County, Carson and Riverside that were reasonably priced(around $650-700). I know you can afford for more later on but as a starter, this would be good. A friend of mine nga pala lived in a luxury apartment in Rancho Cucamonga for $750/month. It was a very huge place na parang bahay na rin sa laki.
While a little bit lower in Boston and New York, still things are expensive like the apartment rentals/ownership, groceries, etc. Cost of living is still mahal pa rin but there are a lot of my collegues who would drive to Rhode Island and New Hampshire (which is about half an hour drive on freeway) since houses are a lot cheaper and taxes are way lower than Massachussetts/Boston standard. But I still prefer to live in Boston cause I am not fond of struggling traffic every day. Especially when sometimes we get stormed out with heavy snow(like what happened 5 days ago) and not able to move my car. Tamad magpala ng snow to clear the driveway...So, taxi na lang papuntang trabaho or take the subway.
Of the four cities, Las Vegas was the most reasonable place to live. But there is a catch. I'm not joking!Totoo talaga ito. As in boiling hot yung entire kotse. Ito nga dahilan why I didn't stay too long doon because of the weather. It gets so much hotter than sa Pilipinas. Otherwise, Las Vegas has cheaper rents sa mga apartments nila. When I was there, I lived in an exclusive apartment Complex. My apartment had two-bedrooms(malalaking rooms), full dining and living room, centralized aircon, washer and dryer, then maliit na balcony. My rent was only $500. Tapos ang paligid is well-maintained. May garden, 25-meter swimming pool and a small gym. I thought it was wonderful over there. Yun nga lang, napaka init during summertime.

December 30th, 2004 10:56 AM #76Hey Karding where are you going for your Master's? I have a lot of friends from Pasadena so I'm over there a lot. I'm probably going to end up attending USC or LMU and taking Accounting.

Mura din sa Rancho Cucamonga, but the properties are slowly getting expensive. Riverside and Orange County for $650.00 doesnt exist anymore.
Mura pa din sa Vegas out of all the cities cyberdoc mentioned but the trade off is the heat, no thanks.
Here's a list of apartments in California. California Apartments
mrfd3s, My mind is set to Claremont Graduate University for a dual degree in MBA/MA Human Resource Design.
