The 2WD is FWD. Just met a good bud, an enthusiast w/ a mixed fleet of euro & muscle. Saw & asked about his AWD 9. He expressed w/o bias his happiness w/ everything, from ride, drive, low end torque, comfort to FC that it's now his daily. Added some obvious points...premium w/o the Lexus or Audi pricing. Nippon reliability, Skyactiv efficiency + Turbo & no CVT.

Thank you. Mazda is truly a trusted brand. Own a MAzda 3 since 2009 and still drivers and handles beautifully without a lot of major defects to date (touch wood). That's why I am considering the CX9. And it looks elegant too.

    Any one else experienced these?
I had that experience with the Mazda 6 when I waded in a 10 inch deep flood. It became noisy aside from getting stuck the following day. I think I shouldn't have engaged the handbrake. Cleaning it was the solution.

The whirring sounds could be the ABS in action.

No complaints with my '14 cx9. I've had the car for the last 4 years now and it's still running like when I bought it. The brakes, though, can be a bit noisy for the first few meters of drive when the car is not used for a few days. But after 2 or 3 break applications, noise is gone. I really don't give much thought about this. Nimble car, and put together very well. No rattles and squeaks so far.

I'm in the market for another car. Cross shopping between performance and comfort/luxury. The new 6 might get my vote. Hopefully mazda will bring in the top signature trim.

I still think it needs paddle shifters and more gears than that ancient 6 speed provides.

OE paddles can be retrofitted plugNplay in all Skyactivs. Gears beyond the 6th are hollow bonuses, IMHO. More for the spec sheet than practical use in 3rd world roads. Hats off to Mazda for the CVT resistance. The Sky tranny is a lively, well buttoned up one.

Agree on the CVT avoidance but that 6 speed is ancient. 5th and/or 6th gears are overdrive gears rendering you with little to play with when you wanna have fun. Yeah i know it has a broad torque curve but thats just me though. I like spending time in the upper reaches of the rpm range.

And PnP paddle shifters? Where can i find those? And who installs them?
