i keep on hearing that the hilux is quite bouncier than that of dmax. maybe because of the higher payload of the hilux. di ko alam kung sayang pero parang mas ok sana kung ang makina nya e 4jx1-tc. kaya nga lang sabi nila may problema daw kasi crdi. tumitirik.

hi dmax owners
posting an update. just had my 50000km pms. got 2 busted shocks again, 1 front left and 1 rear right, only the rear was replaced under warranty, and its under normal driving conditions for a pickup, no off-road or the rough stuff. went thru 2 sets of front schocks and only 1 pc for the reAr. just inquired about Procomp shocks at ride.inc. and checked out the websites. Procomp seems to ba a reputable brand and the prices of ride look affordable. I will get a pair of ES1000's for the front
no other serious problems encountered, just the usual replacements worn out parts like belts.
As for the performance at 50000kms. Engine still very strong but seems to be emitting light smoke in the morning during warmups. and it also seems to emit puffs of black smoke upon reaching 140kph.
currently using chemrez biodiesel. smell of the exhaust is less noxious but no improvements on the fuel consumption or engine power.
very satified dmax owner here.

Smoke at warm-up and high speeds...kahit naka chemrez biodiesel....I thought chemrez biodiesel could prevent that?
....probably you're often running at high speeds too (like me hehehe) kaya walang improvement sa fuel consumption even if you were using chemrez...
On other matters, who among you dmax owners' installed a TURBO TIMER and or TURBO BOOST CONTROLER (yung pressure control valve)?
Did it help the performance?

additional info;
tried both shell rimula x and mobil delvac mx on long term testing. during 5000kms PMS periods, mobil delvac seems to be more "burn proof" retaining its oil level better while rimula x gives better fuel milage (11.90 km/l for mobil vs 12.3km/l for shell). factors like reducing engine noise, etc. they seem to be equal or i cannot tell the diffrence.
right now using rimulax, but will also use mobil delvax once in a while since its CI4 rating should give better engine protection. Isuzu manila and pasig allows "owner's oil/parts" during PMS.
from the shell website sana sa Phils may "rimula super" semi-syn at 15-40w. this would probably be the best oil i can afford; i can afford oils upto php275/liter.
also, i do not know exactly if it makes a difference but; since i often ride without cargo at the bed, matagtag dmax. so i occasionally check and ensure that the fuses are securely inserted in to their slots and not made loose by the jarring vibarations. sometimes when i push them, it feels slightly loose. parang my own preventive maintenance, coz i do not see any casa service doing this.
wildthing; will try procomp shocks kasi its a well known aftermarket brand kaya may pogi points din sana. made in usa kaya hoping matibay talaga at makabawas sa tagtag.

ian, did you change your bulb? if yes the rubber at the back of the headlights might not been properly returned. if it is properly returned there might be minute crack on you lights for moisture to form.

I drive a 4x2 A/T D-Max. Oks na oks ang power nya, you won't feel na matic sya. Sarap pag kumagat yung turbo nya, you can give some sedans a good fight out there in the highway.
