That's what my grandfather did to his '46 Ford during the 70's. Slapped on an Isuzu diesel, mated it to a Toyota transmission.

Hanggang early 90's yun ang set up. Pinag-hahatid pa sakin sa school. hehehe.

Ngayon nirestore na namin ulit back to V8 power.

^^ I was told the surplus diesels were not reliable, overheated and emitted too much smoke. As for the restoration, I think any muscle car enthusiasts would consider it almost sacrilegious for a japanese engine to be residing under the bonnet of a blue blooded American Muscle Car. :D

Depends on where you get them. Any surplus engine, if not properly cared for by the previous owner, will give you problems, but we've got quite a few vehicles here at our company running with surplus engines with no trouble whatsoever.

Heck, SOP nga yan for old Korean vans. Once you've destroyed the stock engine, replace it with a Japanese one...

Also to thread starter, be wary of Expeditions with the air suspension since they break down quite easily and are really expensive to repair or replace.

    Or this,

    6.0-liter (PSD) Power Stroke Diesel
    V-8, 32-valve direct injection
    325 hp * 3,300 rpm
    560 foot-pounds * 2,000 rpm
    Electronic Variable Response Turbocharging (EVRT™)

Though it's used primarily on Ford's heavy duty trucks, I don't see why it won't fit expeditions and f150s. Of course it can be done.... "but, only in the Philippines!" But with the amount torque, it will be too much for the drive shaft and axles to handle.

maganda nga ang nissan patrol engine (4.2L) option kaso laklak din ito sa diesel (4km/L yata).

the project might not come immediately (iintayin ko pang bumaba ng husto ang price).

baka nga underpowered ang dmax engine...pero maganda kasi ang fuel efficiency nito kaya it was my first candidate.

I don't think the expedition will "eventually" become a classic vehicle to restore...masyadong walang dating unlike a muscle car....

Paalala lang po, the Nissan Patrol 4.2 engine makes only 115bhp (talo pa ng Honda Civic). Baka mahirapan. hehehe. Pero malakas ang torque. 2,000rpm pa lang peak na.
