Like I said regarding the D-MAX engine, baka mahirap dahil sa electronic injection... relative unknown sa mga mechanics ang pag re-wire ng mga ECU na yan for a different model/make of car.
Hmmm... possible nga kaya na sobra yung torque ng 6.0 diesel ng Ford sa stock transmission? hehehe... sounds like a fun engine... hehehe
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

August 26th, 2006 03:43 AM #37converting the expedition into a diesel and by also using other engines from non ford ones is really not that easy plus it would cost you too much money if you really wanna save money coz of high fuel prices, why dont you just use your 500k buy a second hand altis with 1.6 and m/t and be satisfied with 10-13km/l rather than on an expe and couging up more money jst to experiment on it to become a diesel ........ plus big diesel engines are not that fuel efficient

August 26th, 2006 05:14 AM #38sorry bossing, I am not really into small vehicles....one is enough....my restomod (restored and modified) KP61...mas sanay ako magdala ng mahabang sasakyan than a small one actually. Kung sakaling dumating ang panahon na bibili ako ng isa pang maliit na ride it's either a Jimny/Samurai (good mini-offroader) or a Suzuki Swift (pamalit sa starlet)...
I think the dmax runs also at around or nearly 160hp like the hilux....and the body of the expedition is not really very heavy....besides hindi ko naman ipangkakarera yun...I just like the big/spacious size of that vehicle. I also think that the engines of dmax and even the hilux/vigo will eventually be available in the "surplus" areas. Possible project for 2007 naman ito.
Naalala ko tuloy yung engine ng LC80 series....mas malakas yun sa Patrol 4.2L ....
Maganda nga yung ginawa ng Atoy na Expedition into Navigator look....
Naliliitan din ako sa pajero both externally and internal space. Yung Patrol safari okay sana sa laki sa labas kaso masikip sa loob...mas maluwag pa yata ang pajero fieldmaster.
Salamat sa mga inputs...re air suspension issues ng expedition.

August 26th, 2006 07:54 AM #39If still within your budget, you might want to consider getting a brand-new Isuzu engine for your mod. Isuzu Phils. has a Powertrain Division which sell brand new turbo-diesel engines for automotive use. These are non-CRDI so no worry about the complicated electronic engine management system and matching wiring harnesses.
They have a 4.6li. and a 7.1-li. direct-injection tubo-diesel available locally. Nice thing is max. torque happens pretty early.

The D-max engine is economical alright. Because it is mated to a body designed for the engine. If you put it in a much bigger and heavier body vehicle it will not be that economical.
D-max GVW 5300lbs. expe 7200lbs that is almost 1 ton difference.
gear ratio 4.3:1 3.55:1 the engine will have to let all its power and torque to turn the wheels.
Diesel convertion if not done properly will result in a shaking vehicle during idle and a lot of other complications. The money you will spend on converting the expe to diesel will in the long run will still not save you that much.
