By the way the shipment has arrived in the post office in North Hollywood. My friend is picking it up today or tom. Can't wait to get the filters. I'm having it shipped here together 8-10 (5 quart) bottles of Mobil 1 TDT.

Delo silver is a good oil, can definetly run longer than 3kms, It does have a TBN of 9.6

Delo siver can be considered semi synthetic as it has group III oil blended in with it. and it has greater than 1000ppm zinc so that's a good thing. If it's anything like the Delo 400 it probably has a good dose of moly and boron in it as well. Delo oils are for commercial vehicle use so they are stout.l

Yes, this is what we use in our fleet since they change oil every 3 mos regardless of travel (I est however that they travel around 4,000kms) It is quite cheap for maintenance of a fleet of forward Isuzu's with 16ltrs engine oil capacity..

Your company really should look into running the oil longer, and saving some money. Here is a used oil test at 4000kms on Delo.

Those two oils are so close in performance it's going to have to be a choice based on price, anything over 1200ppm zinc is pretty good protection. they both have high calcium which is for cleaning your engine. Delo is more tailored for commercial vehicle use. I know here in the states it's now cheaper than Mobil Delvac 1300 super both great oils.

But the Moly level and boron do give Delo a bit of a friction protection advantage, Top one has a moly additive. I would not use this in a newer gas engine since the zinc level is around 1500ppm but for a older diesel you would be hard pressed to find a better oil that can easily run 8000kms to 10000kms with a good filter for the money.

Top 1 is one of the best bangs for the buck for most gas engines. Again it boils down to price, your not going to get significantly more wear from using top 1 over Delo on a passenger vehicle. Delo is really for big trucks and mid sized commercial vehicles. Which makes it even better for a daily driver POV.

    Go on price and availability.

comparing Top1 SDO with Delo Silver and Gold, Delo will be at least 30% cheaper since they are classified as mineral oil as compared to Semi-syn for Top1.

so now im confused on which one to use on my next oil change hehe

I'd go with the Delo especially if your not going past 8000kms. It's all about what's the cheapest and easily available.

Delo is cheapest. as for the availability, its just the same. though, Delo is "just" mineral oil.

Additives and API ratings are more important than mineral vs synthetic.

Your dyno oil has the additive packages like those in Delo to keep pace with synthetic oils, Not all dyno oils do though. For example this is your typical additive packages. Additives: Additives are the different chemicals within the motor oils, which help oil and the engine to function properly. Additives usually include:

    Anti-wear agents
    Anti-foam agents
    Anti-rust and corrosion agents
    Oxidation Inhibitors
    Extreme Pressure Additives
    Viscosity Index Improver
    Friction Modifiers
    Pour Point Depressants

Here's the deal unless you have a high performance high horsepower engine you will see little difference. I would rather use a mineral oil with the Delo add package over SN RATED mobil 1 oil with only 800ppm zinc vs delo's 1500ppm.

And engines like old school diesels will do much better with the highest additive package possible. If your not doing extended drain intervals there really is no advantage.

Good little article that help explains it. Synthetic Vs. Mineral Motor Oil - Engine, Oil Tech - Hot Rod Magazine
