Interesting free android app I downloaded and used recently on my roadtrip. CamOnRoad, it makes use of your phone camera as a virtual Dashcam while overlayed with Map direction from Google map. Very good feature and resolution will depend on your Phone camera. There was one drawback through, My phone frequently overheats due to sunlight exposure on the winshield and constant charging. Looking to relocate the phone on the aircon vent next time once i get a mount for that. Otherwise its quite a good app.

I think the problem is with the Mediatek chipsets and GPU that Lenovo uses. Buggy with Waze eh

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay offers far better functionalities such as traffic info and updated information. Advantage lang talaga ng built-in GPS is yung reliability ng signal which is important when travelling long distances. Pero kung city driving lang, smartphones should be more functional.

These signals are free for all of us to use, so long as we have the right apps and a device with which to connect. In fact, you can even use an older, retired phone as a GPS unit, so long as the apps will still run on the operating system.

The problem with using some navigational apps on a phone though would be the heavy data use.

Lately parang tinotoyo nga ang Waze sa akin

If outside metro Manila, I prefer stand alone GPS. Ang lamang lang talaga ng Waze and Google Maps is traffic information. Sa US yung Garmin GPS receivers, some models can receive traffic information and its very accurate. No need for wifi or data access. It's built in sa receiver and cable.
