Stopped using my Garmin GPS after I got an Android phone. Only been using Mapfactor with openstreet maps ever since, very accurate yung positioning and may regular map updates. Used it multiple times overseas and once on a plane, curious lang hehe.

Only cons lang niya is ang liit na nung icons and labels once you use it on hi resolution phones (720p and up)

Am also a believer of smartphone used as GPS. Pero recently on a very long drive, bumibigay yung celphone due to the heat. Nabilad kasi sa araw sa windshield. Either yung battery overheat alarm goes off or yung gps sensor could not connect until i turn it off for a few minutes. And since im using waze sa provincial road minsan nawalan ng signal while in the middle of recalculating route. Hassle talaga.

Try Waze, pero lately lagi syang nag lo-load ng new routes in just 1 minute. Hassle kapag di mo alam yung area tapos nakahinto ka lang sandali (because of traffic) gulat ka biglang suggestion of new route pero di mo nga madaanan kasi its either stuck sa traffic or bawal talaga left or right dun. I like the old waze better.
