September 13th, 2024 07:02 PM #52Their design team seems trying to design something new that will lead to previous models look old.
Di ko rin fan tung design ng Stargazer nila.
Also, the new Tucson seems not anymore appealing as the time goes by.
Santa Fe also, the current generation makes the previous gen look old.
Eto ata hindi ma gets ng mga designer nila.
Lifespan kasi ng mga products nila is 4-5 yrs only.
Toyota and Mitsu's product's lifespan seems 10 yrs (Ex: Fortuner and Montero)

September 16th, 2024 10:01 AM #57they also copied the poorly-selling (at least, in the local market) mitsu space gear, and came up with the better-selling starex.
i do not know if starex is less reliable than space gear,
but the new versions of the starex or its successors, do not stir my lust... hmmm...
maybe it is because i am now in empty-nest syndrome.
the stargazer... hmmm... "but it's korean!"... for all the pros and cons, real or perceived...

September 16th, 2024 10:52 AM #59it probably depends on the market concerned, and the inconsistency of the manufacturer's nomenclature style. in some literature, they refered to it as the mitsubishi delica space gear.
... and pictures show the similarity to the starex of that time.
in my experience kasi,
say "delica" and i envision a rectangular headlight and a body that suggests ancestry tracing back to the L300.
say "space gear" and i see the starex clone.
yes, starii did not age well. and there were complaints regarding the engine, etc. but one can not deny that they were locally very popular back then, probably because of their seating and passenger space capacity, as well as their external arrival. typical of koreans, in my opinion: "flashy, but... ". heh heh.
but i had a colleague, he was happy with his first starex, he eventually replaced it with another, newer starex. and another colleague is still holding on to her 2004 starex as her daily ride, to this day...Last edited by dr. d; September 16th, 2024 at 11:28 AM.
