Very few buy 1m+ hatchbacks
New Mazda 3 hatchbacks are also rare
The new Subaru Impreza hatch is nice but Subaru PH is not bringing it in. Which is fine since it will probably flop because they'll sell it for 1.7m which is expected since a Civic and Mazda 3 start at 1.5m+ already

^The Territory is nice. What sways me to hybrid brands is the future savings on gas expenses.

Good point. The Yaris Cross Hybrid and Territory X are both at 1.6M.
While discussing our options we decided that we won't be able to maximize the hybrid's benefits because our bunso will be moving out for college soon so no more daily school runs. I am also 100% WFH while my wife is on a hybrid sched. We very rarely travel more than 5k kilometers per year too.

back in 2017 i was choosing between Jazz and Ecosport. ended up getting the latter coz of better ground clearance. but all that ground clearance is pretty much uselessat that time i also had a honda city which took me to all the same places that the crossover did and was peppier to drive. the crossover being fwd couldn't do offroading either
so i got a jimny jb74 for that
moral of the story. the 1.5L crossover is an overweight raised hatchback, so just cut the cr*p and get the hatchback

The Ecosport wasn't the best example of the segment, Powershift and all.
In 2014 we were choosing between the TOTL City, 1.5 Mazda 3 sedan, and Ecosport. We still have the Mazda 3 and have no plans of letting it go anytime soon.

The well-reviewed Maxus D60 Pro is on clearance sale for 798k. From 1.240M, Ayala is offering a discount of 442k until March 31.
You are essentially getting a crossover bigger than the CX5, CR-V, Territory for less than the price of a Vios.

in 2017 there weren't very many subcompact crossovers. all these cars didn't exist back then: xpander, raize, rush, br-v, mobilio, creta, XL7, yaris cross, stonic, seltos, etc. so i think it was just the nissan juke, hr-v and the ecosport
the ecosport i have is m/t so it's actually OK in reliability but in hindsight i really should've gotten the jazz instead
