Tingin ko though, a small engine will consume less fuel per minute than a bigger one. (ex 1.2 liter vs. a 2.5 liter engine idling at the same amount of time.)

November 1st, 2018 08:54 PM #178Same predicament.
When I started looking into buying a car for the first time, I really got hooked by the 2019 Suzuki Jimny. Cute e. But the more I read about it and watched reviews, I realized it's not the most practical everyday car. So I began to look into the new Vitara. Great reviews. Then my boyfriend made me realize I needed to set aside a substantial amount for maintenance and other costs (sorry, newbie talaga). So then my search in the second hand car market began. I want a daily driver to bring my son to school (he's 3), go to the market/grocery and the occasional trip to the beach/mountain when I get better at driving. The boyfriend disagrees w me regarding the importance of ground clearance, so Im also exploring the hatchback option.
Now im looking at a 2017 Jazz TOTL, 2017 Mazda 2 Kabuki Edition, 2016 Mazda 3 1.5 and a 2014 Subaru XV Premium all priced around 700k.
Any help would be much appreciated!Last edited by dcding; November 1st, 2018 at 08:56 PM. Reason: Spelling

November 1st, 2018 09:01 PM #179Ground clearance isn't so important unless your route involves giant potholes and isn't a very useful indicator for flooding.
Consider the Vios, Yaris, Jazz or City if gipit ka sa budget. Ewan ko lang how expensive the Mazda2/3 are to maintain outside the warranty/yojin3. Subaru parts sa official service center can be expensive.
You can also get brand new for a little more if you have a budget of 700k- Reason is that you'll still probably end up repairing something sooner or later on the pre-owned units. So yung total cost of ownership mo will be higher than the 700k anyway. Also if you get recent 2ndhand units, watch out for any modifications, tampering or lapsed preventive maintenance trips that may void the car's warranty.

November 1st, 2018 09:11 PM #180if you passengers are not on the biggie side, a vios should fit the bill. old gen or newest gen.
matibay, plentiful of parts, cheap maintenance, and lotsa choices to shop from in the used car market.
you can even pick your choice of last digit plate number, for coding purposes.
we have a wigo.
it's ok naman and newer, but i daresay the vios has better build quality.
then there's the diesel innova. 'nuff said.
