June 29th, 2013 03:21 PM #651Ano ba ok na front speakers for 3k budget? 12 yrs old stock speakers kasi ito. Malakas na ba ang 250w? Hindi naman kasi ako soundfreak and para lang ito sa weekend car ko.

Anything that fits your budget.
And don't underestimate 250W of power. But how loud it is isn't completely dependent on power. More likely than not, you should be looking at driver sensitivity instead as not everbody uses their power "reserves". The higher it is, the better for low powered systems

What you're looking for are general 2-DIN head units. There are many manufacturers to choose such as Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, the occasional JVC, etc. If you're looking at cheap, go for their lower-end units. However, these would still be in the 5-digits in their standard retail pricing.
There are numerous China rebranded head units too and they're cheaper.. *cough* CDR King hihihi *cough* Whether to go for them or not is up to you.

July 7th, 2013 04:14 PM #655Hi folks, anyone here who have used the stock avt head unit on the new lancer ex for sq setup? Ok lang ba na ito muna gamitin for entry level sq sound system? Nanghihinayang kasi ko palitan since maganda itong hu may gps and dvd na kasi and integrated sa panel. Thanks in advance!

Walang problema as long as you aren't doing any hardcore setups. The AVT head unit has RCA pre-outs at the back which you can tap to connect to your amplifier.

July 8th, 2013 11:50 PM #657Thanks sir, ive been backreading this thread though di pa ko masyado nakalayo. To add further sa noob questions ko, a club member is selling some of his car's audio components, specifically:
-Brutus hifonics mono amp and brutus hifonics subwoofer bundle (4k) ported box gawa ng mickey's
-Alpine f450 4way amp (3k)
-All stinger cables and wires, sukat specifically for the lancer ex (3k)
Came from his sq setup (ported box though, compromise siguro for the deeper gumagapang bass instead of a sealed one)
Balak ko pakyawin na lahat and hingi konting discount, and just buy morel separates and tweeters and have the installation done by mickey's as well. Do you think this is ok for my starter setup? Are the items priced cheap or just so so? Or do you suggest just going for a 5 channel amp and buy a new sub with a sealed box from mickey's?
I'm not very knowledgeable sa car audio setups pa kasi, still researching on this pa. TIA for inputs.

As I do not know the condition of the items, it's hard to tell whether it's of-value or not. However, it seems pretty discounted na on my book. What you want to be careful of is the condition of the subwoofer because the subwoofer is often the subject of... playback abuse (ex. times na gusto mo lang talaga bumayo) and so chances are, its performance isn't what we call top-notch compared to before.
There's no problem for a ported box in a "SQ" setup. In fact, I love ported over sealed on the basis of efficiency. If you feel the tuned bass is too overpowering, just EQ it down if you could. Problem for most people is that ported boxes usually have larger space requirements and that comes at a premium for most guys.
The thing with subwoofers is that all of them are governed by what we call as Hoffman's Iron Law. It's infamous for being "iron" is because.. well, nobody has ever disproved it. It basically means you have three factors: 1) bass extension 2) efficiency and 3) a small enclosure... and you can just pick two. A small sealed subwoofer means getting 1 and 3. A very small sealed subwoofer (ex. under the seat subs) means 2 and 3. Getting a large sealed subwoofer means 1 and 2. A large ported subwoofer means 1 and 2. Between the three, #3 is very important for most people, #2 is less-so because power is cheap compared to the 1990s and #1 isn't much of a problem because getting bass is easy in a car environment.
Personally, I'll go get the package. It seems pretty attractive for the price naman. As long as they aren't lemons, they should perform admirably while saving a few pennies down the road. I'm a fan of secondhand amplifiers.. but not much for secondhand speakers. As for wires, it would be wise to also check for oxidation and other "imperfections" thanks to age.Last edited by jhnkvn; July 9th, 2013 at 12:53 AM.

July 16th, 2013 03:37 AM #660Hi guys! A question, for simple budget set ups. Ano po ang bang for the buck na amplifier? Also dapat pa ba ako magpa deadening? Nag-upgrade ako ng HU recently then nagpalagay ng infinity seps, hindi parin ako satisfied sa sound (bass lacking) kaya balak magpalagay ng sub. Please paturo naman kung ano ang dapat kong gawin. Salamat!
