Hmm... sa skyway may nakaabang na dalawang pulis sa nichols toll sa epass lane habang nakikinig sa radio. Baka naabang ng speeding?
Anyways, lucky I'm just on 60.

Skyway, they won't catch you once you're past the tollgate. And even northbound, there's no one waiting at the Don Bosco, Magallanes or Makati exit... there's one policeman stationed at the Buendia exit, who approached me as if to apprehend, but didn't flag me down...
SLEX. No apprehension for speeding, usually... traffic flows from 100 - 140 at night, when there are few trucks out, from Nichols to Alabang and vice versa (past Alabang, it's a minefield of potholes and bumps). There are sometimes cops between Alabang and Binan apprehending people for using the shoulder, but with the construction now, they're allowing people to use it as a regular traffic lane.
Only other reason they'll try and catch you is for defective headlights/taillights or for various offenses (mostly for trucks/cargo jeeps).
Agh. Can't wait for the southern area to become a four lane highway... two lanes are just too few when you have trucks overtaking each other at 30 km/h...
STAR... no apprehension. At any time. For anything. Dunno if the biker boys have them paid off (they reputedly used to race there at speeds of over 250 km/h for pink slips), but with the plates of STAR tollway settling, it's not safe for motorcycles to speed there now.

argh! there are a hundred other more common infractions they can catch on a regular basis, and they need not have a radar gun to do so. hogging the passing lane is one. smoke belching, another. defective tail lights, defective brake lights.
yup, they're monitoring those guys clocked for speeding. but this is for the southbound motorists. northbound is free for all. but with the volume and erratic speed of northbound motorists, it's hard to go all out.
pang-display lang yung mga pulis sa Buendia at minsan sa Makati exit. pa silip silip sa ibaba. may nabobosohan siguro.
hmmm... the STAR tollway isn't actually smooth. it's probably as smooth as the "temporary" parts of the Skyway that aren't asphalted. mejo mahirap nga dun.

At least the unevenness of the STAR is regular. It's the expansion joints slipping against each other. Not very dangerous for a heavy vehicle going straight, but I'd hate to be a biker tackling that...

February 10th, 2007 05:23 PM #388I think that may be because Rossi has to slow down for the corner!
But seriously 250kmh is chickenfeed for big bikes. I know someone who used to do 300kmh runs on the skyway... Well 299kmh runs because the newer 1000cc class japanese bikes are speed restricted.
Here's a video of a crazy man riding a Kawasaki ZX10R, Wheelies at 170, 250 through the corners! And vmax (299) on a long sweeper.

February 11th, 2007 04:34 AM #390I sometimes go 110-115 there. Pero pag maluwag lang. Wala naman humuhuli sa kin so far. Isip ko sa US nga they allow 5-8 mph over di ba? So siguro naman OK lang dito yung 15 kasi kmh rather than mph. Ayaw ko lumagpas kasi baka ma-stress yung aircon. hehe.
OT: Sa Michigan ang tutulin magpatakbo ng mga tao -- siguro 5-10 mph faster than everywhere else. Dahil sa Detroit kaya?
