I'm pretty sure the 12th gen wont be out by 2018. Toyota usually follows a 5/6-year cycle (9th gen was 01-07, 10th was 08-13, current was launched 2014).
11th gen is ripe for a facelift next year though.

July 21st, 2016 11:29 PM #4277I have a one month old 1.6G. I got it straight cash with 50k discount and standard freebies. Based on my research with other dealers, you can get 20k-50k discount if cash payment. I was quoted of 65k discount if I will get a loan from them with free insurance. I suggest you visit at least 4dealers then compare. I cant recommend my agent though. I was happy with the deal but not with the transaction.

I'm about to cross the line for a 2.0V. How is the CVT on this one.. di ba bitin? How does the 1.6MT compare with the AT version? I have a 10th Gen 1.6MT. Thanks for your inputs.

I have a 10th and 11th 1.6 MT, and I've also driven the 2.0 11th. Performance of the 2.0 on a straight line is better and it will get to 100 and 200 kph faster than the 1.6MT. However, for overtaking, the manual is still more responsive.
The CVT on the 2.0 is much more responsive than the 4AT on the 2.0 10th gen, but a CVT just isn't as exciting as a manual. On the flipside, it's much more forgiving in traffic. [emoji6]
Here's a short video of a 1.6 MT playing with a 2.0 CVT:

Thanks for your reply. The choice is actually bet. the 2.0 Altis or Mazda3 2.0. My preference for the Mz3 is guarded due to concerns about reliability.. which as we know is Toyota's strong point. My only experience with CVT is limited to INVECS III of the Lancer.. which I find robust. Prolonged agony!
