You're better off with a gas Innova, like me. Buying any Toyota diesel is a 50:50 gamble - two of my bosses bought Fortuners (the 3.0CRDi kind) almost at the same time last year. Same color pa, white. One is ok, the other just had its supply pump replaced. My Innova G gas has had no problems at all (knock on wood).

How accurate is your 50/50 estimate? Personally I think comments like these should be based upon facts and statistics rather than speculation. Saying that you have a 50/50 chance of getting problems means that 50% of d4d engines on the road has a problem. I mean, this vehicle is a workhorse for me for the past 23 months now evident on my high mileage. I average 65kms daily with a heavy load and consumes 10.7-11.6 km/l. Although I am not fond of how it looks it does its job. Having a diesel engine is economical and I recommend the Innova D4D based on my experience a fact which I am sure of. But one thing though, the service at Toyota Alabang is terrible, I had a re alignment done and it took the the whole day because they only have two bays for that service(unbelievable)... there is a little improvement but I don't have the same frustrations with Honda Alabang. Just my two cents.

You have your experience, sir, and I have personal knowledge of my boss' predicament. One Fort is doing great, the other just came from the shop with a new supply pump (which Toyota Quezon Ave. didn't want to change were it not for a call to the president of TMPC itself). Based on your experience, you recommend it. Fine. Based on what happened to the Forts that I regularly get to ride in, it's 50:50. My 2 cents.

What is the big difference between Innova and starex with reference to their specs below. Seems like Starex has the edge over Innova since it has higher output esp. DSL to DSL.
Ano kaya reason ng Toyota kung bakit mas mababa output/toque ng Innova compared to its predecessors.

You have 2 bosses with 2 d4d engines. 2 vehicles does not represent the whole assembly line. To say that you have a 50% chance of getting a bad deal is like saying 50% of the vehicles on the road and due for release will have problems... for example, I have 4 friends with d4d engines and they all have good performance, does that say that 100% of the vehicles are ok? Of course it does not. If we are going to talk abouit percentages it should be factual because buying a car is a big investment and it all should be based on facts. And if ever 50% of the d4d engines have bad performances then it would be too big a deal that Toyota themselves will stop selling. And probably even have a mass recall. 50% is such a big number to be saying lightly.

November 27th, 2007 09:28 AM #130Mga pards,naexperience nyo na ba to?
Notice ko lng me kalawang na yung makina (sa me turbo),normal lng daw yun...dont know kung me kinalaman yun..
Just imagine kung magdrive ka ng kotse na parang laging nasa 3rd gear araw araw..wahhhPlease heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!
