Sure hope you got an AT ... that foot brake is still a biatch kapag pabitin.

As an update, nabiktima kami ng Ondoy! 4/5 of our cars got submerged til the arm rest. Too bad our Stavic is one of them. It's a good thing though.

It's our only submerged car that did NOT need a new ECU. Sobrang shock ng mekaniko nung makita na totally sealed by sealant ang housing ng ECU niya!

Too bad this company had to go under. Well-designed car with much-too-weird looks.

I bet you're enjoying the soft ride already aren't you? Take her out of town yet?

BTW, tip lang after the warranty ... they have consumable parts for the Stavic at our suking Servitek outlet!

I was surprised to hear that too. Will probably let go of ours soon though ... taas na ng kms eh.

so sad to hear you're going to let go of your stavic... anyways what do you mean by consumable parts??? after the warranty i could still avail of those parts that i didn't use as per warranty??? tama ba? and that they're just going to charge for the service??

No. What I meant is, after the warranty period, you can have your PMS at Servitek where it's cheaper ...

Sulit naman na kahit ibenta. Nearly 60K kms na siya and it was our only Ondoyed vehicle na hindi kinailangan mag replace ng ECU -- because it was completely sealed!

I find it strange how disparate the comments are about Ssangyong between people who find it ugly but who've never had one and between actual owners who like them a lot.

BTW, Ssangyong is operating again after its rehab plan was approved by the SK courts ...

OK, its been over 2 years now and about 60K kilometers. Took her out for a long drive to Quezon the other day -- my first time since Ondoy, though the driver takes her out.

Noticed that the turbo lag is more now ... until 2K RPM, whereas before 1.5K RPM lang. Also, there's intermittent (though short and rare) CEL (check engine light) na parang related.

I hope it's not a turbo leak due to the flood. But my suspect is a very dirty intercooler.

The ride's still great though! Had to get 2 new (Hankook) tires na. Wanted bridgestone sana but apparently, only korean brands can fit!

On second thought, hindi ko na muna ibebenta ito. Wala namang ibang much better-value na pampalit tsaka nag ooperate na naman uli ang Ssangyong e.

I meant the mother company in Korea. It closed for a while but it's operating again -- now owned by the gov't, I think.
