parang ganito ba nangyari?
iyon nga lang hindi monty iyong nasa pic
seriously though, kuwentong kutsero na iyong mga istrorya na sui-sui daw. that allegation has been swirling around for several years now (it's even been disputed as seen in the vid before this reply) and no solid set of evidences have surfaced to back this claim
*** props to the owner of the pic

Naka-P at naka-handbrake pa aabante. BS!
Tama si arsen, mawawasak muna tranny mo bago mo mapa-abante yan, at kung overheat na AT mo, papano pa nga tatakbo. Mai lang tindi nila, sa halip na P, D yun. naduling lang siguro.

The transmission transfers power from the engine to the wheel in order for the vehicle to move
There is a way to keep that from happening (sudden acceleration), its known as redundancy (doubly safe). This condition is met when the gear is set to P & the handbreak is engaged

May 10th, 2014 12:28 PM #874If I may share, this happened to me a few years back. I was driving our Strada 3.2 4x4 automatic which I believe shares almost the same pedal layout with the monteros. There was a traffic plastic barrier (you know, the squarish orange ones with water inside) pushed by strong winds crossing the street, particularly katipunan avenue right in front of Ateneo. I hit the brakes lightly but the car accelerated lightly and I hit the barrier causing some damage to my bumper and the barrier literally disintegrated at 60kph.
Upon careful analysis, I found out I have accidentally stepped on the accelerator pedal which I admit was my fault. Also as analyzed, I think it has something to do with the pedal placement of the Strada, it's not as spaced out as other cars because of the huge brake pedal so in times of emergencys, you could accidentally hit the accelerator.
It doesn't count as SUA, but mere human/driver error.

February 24th, 2015 04:02 AM #876I guess this issue isn't dead yet. Another party has been posting on FB and commented on Topgear.com.ph about a similar experience with their Montero. Check the link… http://www.topgear.com.ph/news/indus...k?ref=cxsearch

February 24th, 2015 05:53 AM #878sudden acceleration happened to a friend of mine, but its a different car, not Mitsu, ... what they did, they bring it back to the casa, since the driver just hit the nearby wall as the safest choice. Main reason, the ECU. so the car was fixed by Casa and they said ECU was replaced.

The Montero Sport has a strong torque, kahit naka drive yan without stepping on the accelerator, umaabante yung kotse. Actually nga kahit naka-neutral umiikot pa din yung gulong niyan pa-abante. Kapag nagpanic ka, there is a tendency that you'll step on the wrong pedal, and that will happen.
