pero nakakapagtaka lang, bakit exclusive sa Monty ito nangyayari? at wala sa Fort? Ano ba ang meron sa Monty owners na wala sa the Fort?

ako naman, sa tingin ko hindi siguro concerted black propaganda ito
perhaps a few disgruntled monty owners who cannot admit that its driver's error because they can't "milk" mitsubishi or have their units replaced at no extra cost so they have to bear the expenses for repairs and what have you
it would be interesting to check if these paSUAy's had their units insured during the time the incidents happened
kung insured yan then just claim from the insurance unless pinapahirapan din sila nito
if it was uninsured (except for the compulsory CTPL of course), ibang istorya yan

Saw the video Montero Sport Unintended Acceleration: Fact or Farce? - YouTube.
Fermin lao has a whole lot of space infront of him when he performed this test. What if the throttle is more than 50%? I just hope he or anybody from the automotive industry especially MMPC can replicate this incident from a parked position and a distance of 5 meters to stop, to settle this issue once and for all.

I was there when we did the first tests (not filmed). We all tried it, the gas pedal pinned completely to the floor with the brakes at the same time. Release brakes completely. Let car roll. Hit brakes while still holding down gas (after letting the engine hit at least 3000 rpm, where the turbo is at full boost and the Montero hits its torque peak). Still stops.
Second test: Gas pedal to the floor in neutral then shift to drive. This simulates a runaway engine speed controller that is unnoticed by the driver. Vehicle bogs because the transmission drags it down. It takes about two seconds before it gets back up to rpms high enough to cause a surge in acceleration. Driver has plenty of time to hit the brakes before it starts accelerating.
We had no stake in this when we did the first tests, which we did merely out of curiosity. It was only later when we saw the Mitsubishi people at PCOTY testing that Ferman asked them if we could borrow the Montero Sport so they could video the test.
While I was not in the car when they did that video, I can assure you, we've tried every single combination of foot to the floor and shifter position, and we couldn't get the engine to overwhelm the brakes.
This is assuming you're actually stepping on the brake pedal.

The only way to make the brakes absolutely fail without resorting to breaking the brake master or cutting the lines is by bringing the brake fluid to a boil, which creates air bubbles and makes the pedal sink all the way to the floor. But the only way to make the brake fluid boil is to drive like a jackass for at least half-an-hour, driving fast and braking hard every few seconds. Of course, no one who experiences brake failure is going to want to admit to that...Last edited by niky; January 25th, 2012 at 11:05 AM.

Mahirap hindi isipin na black propaganda kasi bakit nga sa MS lang yan eh ang daming A/T na SUV. Yun talaga hindi maikakaila and yung Fort naman nung time na kalakasan nila grabe din sales diba. La man lang na-SUA doon. I'm not saying na dapat meron but it is only reasonable to think na sigruo kahit isa dyan meron din given na SUA nga yung sa MS kaso wala eh.
Just really makes me wonder. Although I don't want to point fingers, just thinking out loud.
paSUAy's = word of the day! FTW!!! :hysterical:
