Yesterday, the insurance company called. They already declared it a "total loss". The damage was really worse since the car was submerged in flood water and mud.

I suggest that you make a follow up on your insurance company. Don't wait for them to call you.

Right now, we're just waiting for the P.O. from our insurance so that we can have the brand new replacement in 2 to 3 weeks time.[/QUOTE]

ano pong insurance nyo? okay yan.

Thank you for the links. It's reassuring to know that there is a Commission we can go to if our claim will be further delayed unreasonably.

NP. I'm trying to find out the contact number of that commission, i'll try to publish it once i get any response.

Since the carshop that i put my car (carsavers) is unable to properly estimate my car, the insurance was actually the one who is suggesting to me to get someone from Toyota to go to their shop and estimate the car.

AIU (formerly Philamlife). The replacement will be brand new. They will pay the insured amount. Sad to say, we have to pay the difference since the new altis costs more now than a year ago (we got it discounted). We still have to shell out around 40k pa.

My insurance thankfully has Acts of God. Kaso, ang tagal magbigay ng LOA yung insurance. I'm assuming this is because Kia quoted a whopping P560K as its repair estimate (recommending the replacement of a bunch of parts). Anyhow, our insurance manager (I got the car through my company's car plan) already told the insurance company to advise us asap if it will issue a LOA for the repairs or if it will declare the car as a total loss in view of the huge repair estimate.

My problem is this: since I got the car through a company car plan, I got a good discount on the car. And, we had it insured for my acquisition cost. Since then, however, the SRP of the Carens has risen considerably. So, even if the insurance company does declare a total loss and I get the face value of my policy, the proceeds won't be nearly enough to be able to buy me a new Carens...
Yup. the insurance company will only pay you the insured amount. The difference will be shouldered by you if you intend to get a "new" Carens.

    Hi,

Would like to ask the forum if somebody here is claimant of Paramount Insurance.

My 13 month old Altis1.6V was totally submerge with AOG coverage from Paramount. The car is at Toyota Pasong Tamo with initial assessment of 1.374Million in parts replacement and labor. I knew the assessment was incorrect (based on water level sila mag-assess at that time), and of course the insurance dis-approved the claim.

Now, we have a new assessment (at the request of the insurance) totalling 530K minimum (as there are other parts that are not yet verified working), so tataas pa daw ito sabi ng Toyota. We are hoping the ma-reach namin ang 75% ng insured value para makapag-insist kami na madeclare na total loss.

Right now, binaklas lahat ng electric/electronic parts at kukunin ng insurance para i-test daw. Ang tanong ko, is this really an SOP ng insurance? Hindi ba sila naniniwala sa Toyota na sira na itong mga parts at kelangan mapalitan? When infact, in-house insurance sila na Toyota Pasong Tamo (and one of the reason why got them instead of my previous Chinabank insurance). -- OR they are doing this as a delaying tactic hanggang sa mainis ang owner and would settle for less???

It's been 5 weeks and still no clear direction on what will happen to the car's repair. It's been frustrating talking to Paramount as they are insisting that they DO NOT declare 'Total Loss' but instead they want to repair the car to its previous condition.

If anyone of you out there in the same plight as we are, kindly reply and we can exchange notes, feedbacks or even just talked about our experience with Paramount Insurance, of which i will never, never renew my contract next year, and would never recommend to anyone.

Thanks a lot for this space to share my frustration.

*Diego - almost similar tayo ng case since our altis which was almost a year old at the time typhoon Ondoy happened was submerged in flood water and mud. When the altis was towed and brought to Toyota Marikina, it took almost a month before it was assesed by Toyota (upon submission of requirements, pics, affidavit et. etc.)

Upon submission of assesment by toyota to the insurance (AIU) they called after 2 days since friday kasi na submit. They told us na declared na na total loss and they immediately gave their list of requirements for us to fulfill.

Upon giving them the requirements, mga 1 week ayos na p.o. namin. we already placed the order of a new altis same spec but different color to toyota. We are expecting the new replacement by end of the month or first week of december.

piece of advice: kulitin mo yung insurance and be authoritative na. push them to do their job. thats what we did.

oo nga pala. hindi nga pala kayang i-restore yung kotse to its previous condition. Yun nga pala sabi ng toyota sa amin... so kahit mag insist yung insurance. di kakayanin.

i dont know how to post pics of our car's condition here at tsikot. pero yun ang naging basis ng insurance company to declare total loss

I once had a 1971 Benz 250CE it was already Fuel Injected.

With the other cars I had in Cavite City - it was always running through floods and salt sprays since I live in a small patch of land surrounded by 3 bays... the salt can eat really eat up a cars body much faster than the cars in Manila.

Ziebart is an investment for a passive rust control system, but an electronic rust control device is what you may consider an active rust protection system.

There was one american brand called ELECTRONIC RUST EVADER. We had one in our Laurel... but the rest also were similarly equipped with it...but were locally made. It's not a popular accesorry for Manila based cars- except maybe for Navotas or Malabon.

My Grandpa was into the Ship Repair industry and ships have a similar thing, but they have a catalytic type of system... I believe they have zinc attached under the hull of the ships... this attracts the rusting or corrosion process so instead of oxidation taking place on the metal hull, the zink anodes takes the beating - making it a sacrificial type of rust protection. Every time a ship is dry docked - they replace these thing with a new one.

I think Malabon and Navotas are sister cities of my hometown - since both places have varaderos. (Slipways).
