bakit ganoon? di ba sila puedeng umayaw na sa work nila for the reasons na masyado na sila na-maltrato as workers? wala bang magagawang tulong ang government na pauwiin na talaga sila for good?

    OT lang mga kasama:
when my fellow tsikoteers informed us about the situation of one of our members or groups of Pinoys na nakulong, kahit kaunti ay di ako nagduda na baka scam iyon or what. i always follow my heart sa mga desisyon ko, kung may manloko man sa akin, it's not my loss. thanks sa lahat na mga tumutulong at sa lahat ng prayers, sana makauwi na silang lahat.

I was supposed to ask this, too. forced labor ba ito? baket hindi na lang sila pauwiin kung hindi naman na sila kayang bayaran ng employer? I don't think that is included in their contract.

    Hi mayana,

The employer has their travel documents. We are currently trying to get the Philippine embassy to issue them new passports so that they can come home. In addition, we are trying to raise funds for their plane fare back. Mr. Lito B. Soriano, of LBS e-Recruitment Solutions Corporation has donated one ticket. We need three more.

As to whether it is forced labor or not, personally I would regard it as slavery since the employer has not paid them for 6 months, can't pay them their back wages, can't pay them now but refuses to let them leave until they finish the project.

When you think about it, about the way Filipinos are being treated in foreign lands where they are forced to look for work simply because there is little opportunity for them here in their homeland, we are no better off than when we were during the Spanish occupation. At least during that time, we still had enough pride and dignity to fight a revolution against the colonizers.

Now, there's just this sinking feeling that we are mere submissive fodder for the whimsical tyranny of foreign races.

When will we collectively wake up and say enough is enough???

here is an update as of today, january 4, 2008

This morning, i was able to send through western union yung unang nacollect na donations for enriko and his team

here is the breakdown ng mga nacollect

    pox 12,600
    ooba 2000
    juntzo $100/4100
    tsikot fund $100/4100

    total of 22,800

another P1000 was deposited this afternoon from an anonymous tsikoteer who pmed me a while ago.

Socal and norcal tsikoteers are having their own fundraising din as well as Dubai tsikoteers and Peace foundation

Unfortunately, the problem doesnt stop there... although nakalabas na silang lahat, and some of you might be asking, bakit andun pa sila...

I made a long distance call to enriko this morning, we talked for around 30 minutes at naikwento nya sakin halos lahat at kung ano na sitwasyon nila ngayon.

the sad truth is... their employer is forcing them to finish the project without providing them the salary for more than 6 months which is due to them, kung may papauwiin daw eh dalawa lang, pero kailangan bumalik agad, feeling nila ngayon, they were blackmailed, gusto nila umuwi pero wala pang concrete na suporta na galing sa embassy. Gusto nila ipaglaban yung sweldo nila para naman makauwi sila ng may laman ang bulsa, but all of them are totally helpless. biktima si enriko ng bugbog at mental torture from his employer, his employer keeps on mentioning na ex special forces sya, a head or something and a sharp shooter.

the wife of enriko, elaine already contacted the office of the vice president to ask for assistance, by monday hopefully maiset na appointment nila.

Sabi ni enriko, isang maimpluwensyang tao lang sa saudi ang pwede magpayuko sa employer nila, in which, si prince salman ang governor ng riyadh. Or perhaps someone from the Philippine government like VP Noli na mangunguna para marescue mga kababayan natin duon.

Sabi ko kay enriko, to ask his team kung ano decision nilang lahat, if they think na wala na talagang pag-asa, inform nya agad... If we need to raise funds again for their ticket back to manila, we will do it for them, may nagpledge na din ng 1 ticket, konti na lang kulang kung sakali.

Tsikoteers, magtulungan po tayo... and lets bring home our fellow tsikoteer and his team.
