thinking of adding a rear (air?) locker. the 2018 EL NP300 doesn't even have LSD, and it is 2WD.

i could sell it and buy a 4WD na lang pero the second hand prices are not good. plus alam ko ang maintenance history nito, and aside from the glow plug code i discussed above, is pretty OK.

am getting stucked sometimes, and a 2WD with an open diff will get me nowhere.

while waiting for the new hilux this has to tide me over. thoughts on a 2WD with a locker?

saw this in the brochure of the facelift model so i don't know if you have this feature

my jimny has this so even in 2wd despite having open diffs it could brake the wheel that's losing traction thus sending power to the wheel with traction

Di ba standard din ito kung may traction control kahit sa front-drive?

"traction control" is like an umbrella term for these various functions. for example ESP electronic stability program is a type of traction control

pero yung specific na feature na "brake LSD" or "traction control LSD" isn't necessarily present when you have ESP

btw even some 2wd vehicles have "traction control LSD" e.g. xpander cross. the upcoming xforce supposedly has it also

Diba completely different ang open differential vs LSD?
Pwede palang combined ang open differential at LSD?

Old technology nayang LSD, even my 1995 L300 Versa Van has LSD.

It's a cheaper way to add torque vectoring capabilities by utilizing the brakes and traction/stability control hardware to divert power like its' mechanical peers(LSD/Lockers) although comes at the expense of extra brake wear and potentially overheating the brakes.

Oo nga. Same din sa Raize. Minsan hindi malinaw sa brochure, kailangan tigngan sa owners manual.

ESP/VDC is useful for the quick maneuvers to avoid roll-overs, most modern vehicles are equipped with this as the international markets require this safety feature.

LSD is only available for 4x4 models,

The older coils of D23 allows only around 900kgs, while the newer dual rate is up to 1 ton for the VE 4x2 A/T only-maybe because the MT VE Calibre has a detuned engine?

Kung hindi naman serious off-road, Oks na ang 4x2 like me almost monthly 3k kms highway driving. If trail with loose soil but may gravel, kayang kaya ng 4x2 basta samahan mo ng momentum. Ganoon din sa slippery rut, bsta hindi abrupt ang delivery ng power to the wheels, hindi mag slip.

Hindi parin pala resolved ang glowplug issue? Get the cheapest analog ohmeter, or the cheapest fluke 101.

yep cheaper talaga, coz it's just software, the hardware already exists if you have abs.

btw it's super unliikely to overheat the brakes coz the energies involved are tiny compared to driving down baguio without engine braking i.e. the kinetic energy of the super heavy car getting dumped into the brakes

that's cool. meron pala ang raize. but why am i surprised there's actually an AWD version of the raize in japan
