8-9km city driving; 11-12km highway driving (90-100km/hr); this is on a 10 yr old LS pickup with 201,000 kms on its odo. i say it's still doing pretty good as far as mileage is concerned...at medyo mabigat talaga pag 4x4.=(
w/o the dual tranny, itll most likely hit 11-12 km city driving imo.

Is it possible the pickup is underused (is there something like that ba?)?

sir, i think 12km/li is still very efficient or at least within the bounds...there are a lot of things that affect fuel consumption and with the numbers you gave, there's really nothing to worry about...that is still normal for a 4x2...some of the factors are driving style, modifications, traffic conditions...if i were you, id start worrying if it's consuming like mine. =)

Normal pa rin consumption. It depends on the weather, the tires, the traffic and your driving style.
To get 14+ km/l, you really have to accelerate slowly, light foot on the gas. In other words, do 0 kph to 60 kph in 2 minutes instead of a few seconds. Maintain speeds of around 60-70 kph on the highway. Make sure you don't have to slow down or stop much (plan ahead, start engine braking when you see traffic piling up two hundred meters ahead). Make your tires as stiff as possible (+1 or +2 psi over the recommended pressure on your door sticker is safe) and keep it out of 4x4.
Buti pa kayo, nakaka 17 km/l sa highway. Best I've got with the Crosswind was 16 km/l, steady 60-70 km/h on the highway. Pero short trip lang yan... might be able to do 17-18 if it's the NLEX.

ei guys. i'm looking to go big again but sorta on a budget.driving a sedan right now (2000 exalta) but due to occasional out-of-town shoots where i drive the client/s & photographer (w/ all his equipment + an assistant) i'm playing around w/ the idea of getting a 1997 local a/t trooper w/ 24valve V6 engine(!)...saw 2-3 at around 400k,seems affordable enough...question:what's the gas consumption of this model?samahan nyo na din ng opinions on parts, reliability & maintenance cost
i'm getting 8-9km/l kasi on my exalta now.used to get 5-6km/l on my old carnival but that was diesel so it's not that painful on the pockets.if the trooper's gonna be a gas guzzler,i'll probably just stick to my sedan & go rent-a-van for big group trips (sayang nga lang yung 2-3k rental). so as usual,i'm going to let the old-reliable tsikot gurus to decide for me...hehe..

Hehe... have no idea about the gas version of the Trooper, but the diesel should be around 10 or under for highway trips.
