The last thing Hyundai should not do, is to not target the masses and the practical. They do not have much competitive line up units to compete with Japanese cars, and I believe only the Starex Van kept their company alive. Probably the Tucson and Santa Fe would slice a bit of the cake but not much. Further more, rich and capable people buy the likes of BMW X5 or Porche Cayenne. Veracruz would be bought by an elite person if he is Korean.

Cayenne is more than 6 Million.

It won't. Fortuner is a joke compared to Veracruz. A Choking D4D 160hp with 5-speed auto vs a V6 CRDi E-VGT 240hp/480Nm mated to a 6-speed tiptronic. The disparity is endless. Truck vs Monocoque. US/Euro Compliant vs Asian model.

Ilang taon pa siguro, marami ng gagastos ng ganyan kalaki for a Hyundai.

True, Fortuner may be a joke especially the D4D engine but it got its numbers of buys just by its own brand and looks. Hyundai can't beat that even with the numbers of Tucson and Santa Fe combined. I guess you know what I mean when it comes to badge, and realistically Hyundai does'nt have that for now.
However I would buy the Veracruz over the Fortuner, but not in any way againts the Prado LC.

I'd take the Veracruz over the local outdated Prado anytime since i'm after performance. If the SantaFe's 150Hp/335Nm can give me the power to go 200kph++ in Metro Manila roads, then 240hp/480Nm of the Veracruz would probably be twice as exhilirating.
Toyota is no doubt a very popular brand but i'm not stupid to settle for less just because of popularity.

Prado is not outdated, but its design is made to last for a couple of years and definitely making its resale value high. Prado's HP and Torque specs is more than enough to navigate Metro Manila. Veracruz so-so engine specs may just be an overkill for our local roadways, and I do not think you would utilize that kind of performance that much due to daily traffic, unless you frequently travel north to Baguio, or to the South.

The price here in the US is already announced. Here http://www.garyromehyundai.com/veracruzpricing.cfm
Ranges from $26,000-$35,000. $11,000 lower than the Lexus RX350 so maybe 2.7M is too high.

March 11th, 2007 10:17 AM #100Oh, my friend just read me a Korean car article about how the Veracruz is not saleable in Korea. Bottom line seems to be its high price especially since their domestic market is already opening to foreign brands.
If that's any indication, hopefully our local distributor can price the new Veracruz better.
