October 24th, 2011 09:40 PM #2193Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replys and info. I think i will either go with Elantra gl 1.6 a/t or Elantra 1.8 gls. Is the 70k difference worth the extra hp, integrated radio, steering wheel controls, foglamps, back sensor and disc brakes at the back of the 1.8 gls?
I will normally be driving to and from pampanga and manila via NLEX. Will the diff between fuel consumption be that signifcant between the 1.6 and 1.8? and are their post fuel consumption of 5.3 and 5.7 L/100 km the real deal? I'm buying a new car since my old 2002 crv a/t is really a gas guzzler averaging aroun 7-9 km/li even at highway. and of course the maintenance and repairs are being more frequent
By the way, is it true that the elantra has no mud guards? and immobilizer
Can you guys tell me wear to get the best deal with the elantra? what branch?

October 24th, 2011 09:59 PM #21945.3and 5.7 L/100km is only doable when cruising along at a steady state of probably 80-100km/h at top gear. That means that the moment you throw in just a littlt bit of city driving, expect your fuel consumption to go up. So that means that the (probably) 40 Km you travel in NLEX (whilst maintaining right foot discipline :P ) you can 5.3 - 5.7 average... But throw in the (lets say) 10 km of city driving (especially stop and go driving) then all bets are off...
As for my personal experience, a mixture of 60% highway - 40% city nets about 9L / 100 Km. I actually posted more details of my gas mileage experience a few pages earlier on this thread. You may take a look at it for more info.
Hope this helps!

October 25th, 2011 09:05 PM #2195what i hate actually about the elantra is the choice of colors for the 1.8. i mean only black, silver, and red as compared to the array of colors available on the 1.6 variant
