2nd gen was a ****pile.
We had the 3rd gen. Over several years and 200k kilometers, we replaced:
Front shocks once.
One window switch.
That stupid breakable keyfob several times. :hysterical:
And I think we did AC/fan repairs just once.
The engine and transmission were dead reliable. Don't recall if we fixed the alternator, but don't think we did. And we didn't have the stupid AC control issues you can get on the 2nd gen, either.
When we sold it, the rear diff was in need of a flush and the paint and interior were pretty shabby, but the engine and transmission could have gone on another 100k kms no sweat. No loss of power, no slipping, oil consumption less than 200 ml over 10,000 kilometers.
3rd gen had better fuel economy (and engine mounts) than 2nd gen.
4th gen has an upgraded 185 hp motor versus second gen, better engine mounts pa (shifting is better) and a much softer suspension. It also has magic folding rear seats that are pretty boss.
Best of 4th gen is the 2014+ 2.0, but you can get a 2012-2013 2.0 with a manual transmission for just 700k. Sweet deal. Super economical motor.
Only big issue secondhand is suspension parts. I believe you can use the same oil filters and air filters as 3rd gen (these are available)... Suspension, you'll need to get the good stuff na from KYB instead of Banawe-level replacements.
It's possible shocks for 3rd gen will fit... halos same body sila... but I have not checked or tried this.Last edited by niky; August 18th, 2017 at 08:01 PM.

August 19th, 2017 06:21 PM #609I say this from a fb comment:
120hp is fine in a crossover
Sa mga nagcocomment dito na "underpowered" and "detuned"
Toyota Fortuner 2005 to 2011 says hi with 102hp
Nissan Urvan (last gen) says hi with 75hp
Isuzu Crosswind says Hi with 85hp
Hyundai Strarex TCi says Hi with 101 hp
I hope may test drive na.
Also heard from my agent na nag pahiram daw ng units for review sa top gear phils.

August 19th, 2017 06:47 PM #610agree 120hp would be enough. it's just that we know there's a 160hp version which would have been sweeter
im sure crvs will occasionally be used for long drives and cruising speeds will be much smoother for 160hp engine.
