Actually, the Limcaoco family has several auto dealerships too .. BMW and Nissan Alabang, GM Shaw is what I know of. I think they also have a Hyundai dealership. I guess you people should also be aware of those dealerships. Same owners, same people, same operating procedures.
From what I can remember way back, Rapide was formerly Midas (see links here)
Midas (automotive service) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Midas - Brakes - Oil Change - Tires - Auto Repair - Car Repair
I do not know the technicalities but when Midas pulled out of the Philippines, the existing hardware was recycled into Rapide. Complete with an english speaking, chain smoking service manager, I'll remember his name in awhile. I had them do wheel alignment to one of my cars once. The technican gave me a list of "parts needing replacement" before they will touch my car.
Shaking my head, I went out of that shop, got into my car ...... went to Gomags in Evangelista.
Car was properly aligned, no bullshitting required.
That was then ...... I am a very happy DIY'er now!

here is something my college friend posted in my facebook regarding Rapide
I knew this as far back as 7 years ago. They charged a friend of mine around 50K labor to overhaul a Starex's engine + cost of spares. They did overhaul it and my friend received the car back after 2 weeks. During the first usages, the engine made abnormal noises then suddenly stopped and froze, and couldn't be started, the starter couldn't even turn the engine over (hindi "rumeredondo" in mechanic's language).
To cut the long story short, they had to dismantle the whole engine again, only to discover that the "expert" mechanics at Rapide FORGOT to install the retainers on the piston crank pins. Brand New pistons, liners, pins, rings all DAMAGED because the crank pin dislodged and "ate" away at the liner and eventually ruined everything in the engine. They had to redo the overhaul again, and the manager, in his embarassment, lent my friend his OWN car to use while the starex was being overhauled for the 2nd time. Eventually my friend sold the starex because he just got so disgusted with Rapide.
Is this the "proffessional" job a customer gets after paying 50K labor??? Mang This and Mang That will do it for you for A LOT LESS and better results, Or better yet , if you have the tools and the skills, just do it yourself..
Yup it's true, when it comes to SCAMMING people for their hard earned money.. Nothing Beats Rapide, Nothing!! Their "facade" of being "professional" because they are expensive gets the better of many people.. Especially the "branded-is-better" "jologs" crowd that get swayed by the "posh" signage and premises.

My car is in good condition right now. Walang sira and what not. Just had it checked last week.
Kapag nagkaron ako ng free time, bibista ako sa isang branch ng Rapide. Magiimbento ako ng sira sa kotse ko. Then magpapa-estimate ako sakanila. Titignan ko nalang kung anong mga sira ang immake up nila para magpagawa ako dun.
And if I can, I will document everything. Or take note of their "wonders" atleast.
