AT,
You get my vote for no confidence. Seriously, aren't you guys aware of service recovery? Do you know that you spend five times more to get a new customer and less to maintain them. Think about it, no matter what you do now is an afterthought of what has actually happened.
To the thread starter,
I admire your virtue of patience. You had the balls to air your complaint given the possible consequence against you and the company that you represent. What if they did it to someone who does not understand much about the technicals of automotive? Will it be the usual "kamot ulo" approach and just say, "pasensiya na boss medyo nag-alangan eh palitan niyo na lang kaya niyo naman at ako arawan lang dito. Oh well, just to save on incidental expenses AT will actually be losing more.

it is very difficult to please someone with a technical experience because he knows what he is saying. he knows his forte perse. so you should argue with him on the level that he is. for a management person to talk about technicalities concerning technical matters, you better think twice on your answers.
consider some facts. i am in the IT industry and have so numerous complaints or problems with several IT services. if there forefront or customer service people answers me in a wrong way, i end up with a heated discussion because they dont know what they are telling me.
having the technical experience is a plus. you can reason out with someone who is novice because you have more advantage. but with someone with the skills and brain, no..no...no...
on the other hand, it is not even concerning technical experience. it was there in one piece beforehand. having it broken afterwards, there is something wrong on how it is done....

February 12th, 2007 10:53 PM #94Please post close-up pictures of the cross section of the breaks on both sides of the radius arm.
It is easy to tell if the arm has hairline fracture before the it broke into two.
Just show me the close up pics and I will give my comment as a professional.
If the stress line is radial(concentric lines) the cause is over tightening.
If the stress line is cross-sectional, it is due to bending stress, and the tightening of the bolt could have saved his life and of others.
If the break is conical, that is again due tensile stress. That is a due to prolong use and not by over tightening.Last edited by turbo; February 12th, 2007 at 11:04 PM.

Though not part of the alignment process, the mechanic noticed that the radius arm looked like it wasn't fully tightened. He then proceeded to tighten it as a favor to Mr. San Mateo, his former boss.
It didn't turn out as a favor to me.

AT,
The final question is, will Mr. San Mateo be compensated for the damaged radius arm?Last edited by afrasay; February 13th, 2007 at 12:29 AM.

You may have lost the battle but not the war. The fact that they will lose customers because of how they handled your situation means they are losing the war.
Stress fracture or not the fact is the mechanic touched something that wasn't part of the work order you agreed to and it broke. That means they are responsible for replacing the part that they broke.

February 12th, 2007 11:46 PM #98Sana he ca post the close up pics.
Baka kasi kaya akala ng technician na maluwag ang twerka eh in-fact the arm was beginning to fail(meaning, it is already suffering from hairline cracks). Kaya baka nga due to this incident an accident waiting to happen was prevented.
Pictures lang. Malaman na natin.

OT: at that point natatakot na akong bumalik para magpagawa sa AT, made several repairs sa kanila, pero since nawala n ung Joven (hands on n service manager nila, that it think is good) hindi na ulit ako bumalik kasi parang pag nangyari yan ganyan incident sa tulad kong normal na tao, wawa naman ako 8k is a big amount of money for me.

O, andito na yung kasagutan! This will potentially put an exclamation point to the alleged investigation that AT did. This is what I've been saying. Dapat inexamine nila yung radius arm kung saan naputol, to give a conclusive answer as to why it broke.
*Turbo: Don't you need the actual part itself to be examined? To check for hairline fractures? Or would a high-res pic do? (para pwedeng ma-zoom). Maybe JQP could provide one para tapos ang usapan
