    I read from the comments that the engine was burning oil. Note that the engine is still running even after the key was removed.

    Something similar happened to a friend. Turbo bearing gave out and the turbo sucked engine oil into the intake. Luckily he was able to stop and shift to neutral before it went completely bonkers. Scary stuff, that.

    Runaway diesels happen kasi diesel engines lack throttle bodies, thus they rely on air ad fuel from injectors.

    So kung na stuck sa open position yung intake or whatever that is called or if the injectors go bad and supplies fuel more than what the engine requires, you'll have a runaway diesel engine.

    Best choke the engine by blocking the intake with a cloth.
