Your First Car... A Memoir

My first car was a 1972 VW Beetle. I learned a lot about cars with it as my uncle was a mechanic and I was his alalay whenever something needed to be fixed with it. My most memorable moment with it was when the engine burst into flames (common fault with a Beetle) while I was out on a date with my GF. Everything turned out ok. She became my wife.

I was a working student. That is when I learned to drive starting with the company's 1976 Toyota Tamaraw, 1980 Mitsubishi Cimarron, and 1970 VW Kombi. But my first very own car was a second hand 1995 Nissan California.

We all have similar Beetle first car stories but mine was a Dune Buggy w/c i got for 20k way back in 1993. I remember on our first year of marriage my wife and I used to joke about getting soaked on each half of our side whenever we got caught in the rain in traffic. The Beetle proved a good first car for most of us with limited budget that time.
