August 23rd, 2011 02:30 AM #131Reposting from my post sa Ford Club na forum. Will try to keep this current for those who are not members (highly recommended, especially for Fiesta owners
:
Guys:
For those who are interested, I'll be posting regularly regarding FC. I actually think of hypermilling as a fun thing to do and while our Fiesta isn't a FC beast (in the good sense), it can be frugal when your BP is on the low end. Anyway, some details:
Car: Ford Fiesta 2011, Sport
Age: 16 days
Running Cost / day: ~350 / day
Distance / day: 70 KM
Total Distance (ODO): 1,190
Average KM/L: 9.977
Min KM/L: 9.615
Last KM/L: 10.134
Max KM/L: 10.390
PHP/KM: 5.016
Days/Fillup: 5.0
KM/fillup: 297.5
Fillup Record:
1. 42L 9.9 KM/L
2. 35.11L 10.4 KM/L (flogged Sierra Madre -> Antipolo)
3. 32.82 9.6 KM/L
4. 33.39 10.1KM/L (flogged Timberland route)
Above Data courtesy of ACAR (highly recommended app, for Android)
Usual Route: Fairview (Commonwealth), Marikina, San Mateo, Ortigas
Traffic/City VS Non-Traffic/Highway: 30% VS 70%
Observations via In-dash reading:
- Max Mileage 55 L/100KM, Low at 0 L / 100KM during coasting
- the average L / KM is pretty accurate, based on fillup data gathered above
- light tap on the pedal usually starts at 22-20 L / 100KM and goes to 9-10 L / 100KM during slow speeds (~40kph). Cruising at 60 kph limit gives 5.5-7 L / 100KM
- light tap (as noted above) improved as i neared and passed 1000 KMs on the Odometer. From the usual 9-10 it got lower down to 7-8, averaging on 9 (L per 100KM)
Driving habits:
- Much as i enjoy flogging the Fiesta (parang ang saya and bastos at the same time), very conservative yung driving ko. I rarely depress the pedal to anything more than 10-15% it's travel. The Fiesta literally jumps when you depress it further, parang rabbit, hence my name for it: Rabbit.
- I enjoy coasting along Commonwealth and achieving sub 5L / 100KM, especially downhill. Unfortunately, kung may downhill may uphill din, this usually takes up 13-18 L / 100 KM
- optimal L / KM is usually achieved when you reach higher gear, unfortunately, short of counting the number of times your gear shifts, it's hard to tell which gear you're on. Usually, running the car up to 50 kph gives you decent mileage, only bettered when you reach about 70-80, depending on the grade of the road (steep or not steep)
- I got as high an average as 17 L / 100 KM during a particularly frustrating stretch on my way to Marikina. Had to attempt to overtake a few vehicles. Tried going back to my target of 10 L / 100KM (10 KM / L) by driving conservatively.
Real mileage should show during the next few thousands of kilometers, after my 1000 km checkup. Will add to this report then. I wasn't expecting the Fiesta to be frugal, but given its surprising potential for acceleration, it's not too shabby.
Once again, I highly recommend "ACAR" for your FC tracking needs, especially if the car is relatively new.

March 8th, 2012 04:19 PM #140So far im down to my first half tank on the Fiesta S using Caltex Gold and I dont think i made 10km/l since I had less than 220 on the trip meter. Oddly enough the guesstimator says im at 8.4L/100Kms.... More info when I do get a re-fill.
I dont drive hard, dont get stuck in traffic and I rarely break the 1800 rpm barrier. Maybe its meant to be driven hard... total 230Km odo.
