July 3rd, 2011 11:21 AM #401looks like i finally got the real deal. hehe.
i noticed though that the filter itself does not have the plastic that covers the thread and oil inlets. its something that im used to see in a filter. does it really come without that? the person from the shop told me its really does not have a plastic covering. is this true?
Btw, dvldoc, i saved the link you posted on the filter cross reference guide. it has tons of useful info. thanks for posting.
ry_tower thank you too. hehe

Most Baldwins do not come in plastic, they are in there own box for the most part especially on the small filters. Only the very large filters come in full plastic wrap because they do not come in their own box. I probably have about 100 of those BT223 in my storage so you got the real deal.

I call them, I just use the 1800 number on there site, just like I do with Fleetguard. These two do not publish their efficiencies online.
It's basically the only way to get the filter specs besides doing a web search for it.
They will either give you nominal or absolute ratings depending on what they have on file. You will have to ask further if it's multi-pass or not.

hey dvldoc, thanks for the info again. was wondering what is the difference between the the bt223 and b33 aside from the physical size.
b33 is the cross reference of oem.
i read somewhere that the bypass pressure is not the same. i think 8 for the bt223 and 14 for the b33. Im not sure of the actual numbers. i prefer the bigger physical size of the 223 but im concerned on the bypass pressure.
also are all microglass filter element, say of baldwin, are the same? im thinking if its microglass, the filter element must be the same and difference would be the thread, bypass valve and physical construction. am i correct?
Thanks in advance!

If it crosses to the B33 use the BT223 it's a better filter than the b33. 8psi vs 14psi bypass is not a huge difference. If your OEM crosses this than it's probably closest to the factory specs.
