That's kinda disappointing for ACE, looks like they are selling a foreign brand using the Purolator name. All original filters will have country of origin printed on the filter period. If it does not have this it's not the real deal. The country of origin is a standard any major branded filter. Dang can't even depend on Ace hardware not to sell fakes.

But it could also be they are selling really old stocks. The old filters like Pre year 2000 did not have these crimps. And were prone to leaks.

I was also looking around SM North Edsa's hardware section this morning, some Purolators don't indicate country of origin as well. But the smaller ones have them. Mixing fakes?

Real Purolaotors have the crimps period. And a country of origin, . The crimps on the gasket are a standard feature all have this on oil filters it's to prevent the gasket from coming loose and leaking if it does not have it it's not the real deal. No country of origin stamped on the filter it's not a real Purolator. It should be at least on the box.

If they are cheaper than VIC and they don't have what they are supposed to on them I would avoid them. Real Purolators also have 3 languages on the front of them as well.

Even Purolators brands like Group 7 and Pro one look just like the regular ones.

Purolator filter have 8 medium-sized holes for the oil inlet or 7 oval holes and nothing but a black (or orange for the Pure One) diaphragm to be seen through them. There are 6 large crimps holding the gasket in place. Through the center outlet hole, you can see the spring for the bypass valve.
