Agreed but alex_13 intends to "top-up" his newly changed synthetic oil with mineral oil.

Not much worry IMO.

But for new engines, use semi or fully synthetic depending upon your service intervals. You can compute naman whichever will give the best benefit and not much cost.

for example, twice a year ka lang magpapalit since hindi malalayo biyahe mo, better to use semi or fully syn para ok pa oil mo kahit matagal na sa engine. Kung every 3 months ka magpapalit, multigrade or semi-syn is best.

CF-4 or CH-4 rated by API are designed for turbo charge diesel engine.

buy the best oil with the best specifications( additive package/base oil)...

pag mineral kaya mostly 5000kms ang recommended change oil because it degrades very easily when used...
if you use semi synthetic you can extend it a little further provided you use a good filter...(not VIC)
if you use fully synthetic you can DEFINITELY extend your intervals...and extend it FURTHER with a good filter again...(not VIC)

the TRUE advantage of fully synthetics over semi and mineral oils is not the interval it can give but the edge in terms of
    *shear protection (oil film strength)
*soot dispersion (can hold more particles in suspension)
*fuel economy (high viscosity, superb cold start protection)
*and resistance to oil oxidation due to the fact that they are synthetics (degradation)

mineral oil is fine if you're very religious with your intervals. if you'd like a bit more leeway with it then better to use full syn oil.
