September 2nd, 2019 05:25 PM #11This. Sabi nga ng kaibigan ko na matagal nang nag work sa China, ang difference between Japs and Chinese is
Chinese: Minor issues "Pwede na yan".
Japanese: Hindi pwedeng, "Pwede na yan".
So it boils down to quality control. Chinese can copy anything. Sa quality lang nagkakatalo.

Lots of people have this idea that Chinese factories use quality control standards that are below par.
That may have been true in the last decade but not so today. Practically the entire assembly line in MG's chassis plant in Shanghai is automated (yup, robots).
And currently, all MG products have a panel gap of less than 5 millimeters. What's the significance of that? This can only be achieved with a very high level of quality control, like Six Sigma levels. Or in car terms, Lexus levels.

It also relates to the materials for the other parts of the car, and fit and finish of the vehicle. Plus there's also the nagging question of whether or not the wheels will fall off this thing after a couple of years of ownership.
But, those are typical of any car manufacturer of any country. I still remember when the same issues hounded Korean-manufactured cars imported to the PH. Same with European imports like brands from Italy or France.
I guess as manufacturing methods got modernized and automated, those issues have either been resolved or minimized. Add to that, manufacturers are aware that having their vehicles made in other countries do raise QC concerns which they likely give more focus on.
