There's no way to avoid it really. The water distribution lines are PVC, and IMO that's the biggest source of ingested plastic since water flows at high speed and pressure and it's eroding the PVC pipe walls all the way to our homes.

In contrast, the amount of plastic abraded by some food or water sitting still in a container is probably minimal.

Put a filter? I suppose that helps but the filter housing is plastic too!

    Water dispenser? Yeah still plastic.

Glass jugs and drinking glasses are really just a short break from drinking water being completely surrounded by plastic.

minsan naisip ko... is it really safe to reuse ice cream containers?

then I realized... we may not be using one now, pero we used it as kids... and buhay pa ako.

Ayoko mag-reuse ng ice cream containers. Naaalala ko nung bata ako na excited ako magbukas ng ice cream container na nasa freezer, tapos ang bubungad isda.

they are actually food-grade containers and withstand harsh (freezing) temperatures.
we re-use them until they degrade, i.e., the lids and edges get torn and do not seal well anymore.

That's not unlike those Danish butter cookie cans that are used to hold threads and needles.

^naalala ko pa dati nung HS ako...

if a classmate invites us to their house for the first time, we would find a way to check the freezer.

if plastic ice cream containers - Magnolia, normal family
if tin can - Selecta, medyo sosyal. hahaha

there was a time in the past, when we would buy products, not for their contents, but for their containers, which we put to good use afterward.
this might sound unbelievable today, but we once fought over canned soft drinks, as we would use the cans afterward as status symbol pencil holders.

histories ago, japan purchased broken glass shards from russia, not for the glass, which they simply threw away in the water, but for the prized wooden crates they came in.
it was rumored that russia used good wood, because they wanted to impress the world.
