I am quite happy with the AVT GPS. I could have save money using a garmin together with the roadguide map but I just didn't have the patience to contribute to roadguide to be able to get the contributor's map.

Fact is, there are hundreds of volunteer contributors that regularly updates the maps from OSM and roadguide and yet their maps are far from perfect. Unless you have at your disposal the same number of volunteers, then I can't see how you can "update" your map.

Well, you're assuming that the unit will breakdown and you're padding your price under the guise of warranty. But with your price of more than twice of what I can buy abroad, I can buy another new unit if it breaks down with some change to spare. So why the need for warranty from you?

And I do feel sorry for those people in your gallery. If only they have known that there is a better option for them.

Turns out there are optional ways to get contributor status in roadguide.ph aside from plotting actual tracks and waypoints. Fact is, there are contributors there that gained their status while they were still abroad. If you don't believe me, see this...http://roadguide.ph/forums/showthread.php?t=22. You get what I mean?

Who's "kami"? Fact is you're using OSM and roadguide map as you admitted in the other thread. Maps that were developed by volunteers to be used for free and which you modify and use in your business of which I'm sure is without written permission from their developers. And don't claim to be developing other country's map. You can't even make a decent Philippine map of your own. Your South East Asia map is a combination of free and cracked maps. Don't deny it. The same thing that you combine OSM and roadguide map for your business.

Fact 1: You're selling hugely overpriced Garmins
Fact 2: You're using cracked maps and freely available maps to justify your price
Fact 3: You can't make your own map. You simply don't have the resources to produce your own map. And don't post screenshots of a few POIs located near and around you place. It doesn't mean anything at all in terms of having an updated map.
Fact 4: Don't claim to be helping tsikoteers by selling them overpriced devices. You're duping them. There are better options for them.
Fact 5: I don't claim and will not in any way claim to know how to make a gps map. But I contribute data to gps mapping and not looking for any financial return.
Fact 6: There is no mention of acknowledgment of where your maps came from in your website. How can you claim that you legally use them? And to prove that you're not following copyright rules, read this....http://roadguide.ph/forums/announcement.php?f=26. You simply cannot use the map without written permission (at least the roadguide map).
Fact 7: I do not answer your post to make a fight. I'm just stating the facts to enlighten future gps buyers. If you feel insulted by my comments, so be it. It's probably deserved.

And on the question of having done anything to help fellow tsikoteers, well for sure I have helped them....by exposing sellers of hugely overpriced Garmin gps with cracked maps in them.

Saw the prices also and damn! What a rip off.

Also, he's advertising a high-end GPS (ie. Nuvi 1690) and listing features that's unusable in the Philippines.

Buyers should definitely be educated that there are cheaper alternatives to that... and with a better source of map to boot.

From the looks of the screenshots sa sinabi mong "map" mo sa Valenzuela area, hindi siya from OSM Philippines. Please give credit where credit is due baka ma-karma ka dyan.

My Garmin Nuvi 205 W is only 8,500 pesos.

    Eto yung ibang Screenshot:

Hardware limitation. Most Nuvis do not display POIs when navigating.

As I heard it, POIs are not shown in 3D mode to reduce clutter and to also speedup screen refresh.

When navigating, my Nuvi 255W doesn't show POI's, whether set in 3D, Track Up, or North Up.

Oh well, at least it doesn't hang like Mobile XT (when browsing the map).
