I wonder if the current movement of selling non-E10 gasoline is based on the lack of ethanol supply or the oil companies trying to lower the cost of gasoline?

February 1st, 2011 01:38 PM #814Karamihan kaya sa mga gasoline stations pure gasoline na ulit?
Nagimprove kasi yung fuel economy nung car namin from 7.5 hm/L to 9 km/L. I attributed it to the cold weather (cold air better performance) since start of the year. But I'll check next time I gas up kung 100% pure gas nga yung station sa may amin. Baka naman dahil dun kaya gumanda fuel consumption.

After two "tank-fulls".... (midway na ang third), the mileage on our City (with a Km/L gauge) is holding at its previous pure gasoline performance......This is on Shell's Unleaded gasoline.....

Given that the link with lower fuel mileage with E10 gasoline is obvious, is it worth it for motorist to be forced to use E10 gasoline (when supplies are normalized)?
E10 gasoline is supposed to help us save foreign dollar reserves and help "clean air" movement. But the fact is, we are still importing ethanol, we are forced to burn 10% more fuel to go the same distance and we are forced to spend 10% more on fuel during an average driving year.

Dear Sirs:
Sad but true, the Philippines used to be a large producer of sugar and ethanol.
Unfortunately we have been surpassed in efficiency, price and quality by the Brazilians and their indigenous ethanol fuel program - both from the production side and the technical side.
Most of the ethanol used to create local E10 fuel is IMPORTED from abroad - from places like - you guessed it - BRAZIL.
For those truly interested in the background to this and its root causes - please investigate the role played by the premier Agro-Industrial Scientific Research Organization in Brazil - EMBRAPA!
Sincerely,
Dusky Lim
