knowledgeable people are willing to pay premium for good product.

    personally,
i would pay more (and i did!) for a used car with good provenance.

dito sa pilipinas? i am not sure, but i still believe some folks are honest.
I read somewhere here that tampered odo can be detected by scanning using OBD scanner.
I forgot the thread but when they scanned, they were able to identify that the car is already 100k+ mileage compared to 40k+ displayed in do.

Those who have inquired, how many are bayan sellers?
Dami bayan sellers sa FB, akala mo bibili ng unit, yun pala i repost somewhere with a mark-up price.
Well, those reposting are not bayan sellers but agent pala.

Wasn't there a news last year of a company that can certify your second hand car for a fee?

Can't Toyota or other car manufacturer do a certified check on the second hand vehicle from their make?
i always see their casa's with a certified second hand car for sale.

yes, i see in Carousell from time to time, cars for sale with the come-on "Inspected".
but i do not know anything about the entity that did the "inspection".

toyota (and others, i think) have their "certified used cars" program.

when one buys a still new-ish car, i think the buyer might also have purchased whatever warranty the car still enjoys from the manufacturer.

Just to be on the safe and practical side, I would rather go for a casa-maintained car as opposed to the "lady-driven" baloney that gets posted all the time. And if the claim from the seller is indeed "casa-maintained" then he/she needs to be able to produce the service logs and receipts.

Meanwhile, going to a used car lot would be an act of impatience/desperation, imho, or if the buyer wants to buy a used car via financing (also not a good idea).

there is this old joke, about the proverbial little old lady who drives her beloved car only during weekends...
